Installation Problem on SC4 Deluxe

Hi,

I have recently bought sc4 deluxe from ebay, and when try to open the installation i get a strange error

message "  ??????1?? " (screenie; http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/4889/simcityprobel.png) it then gives 2 options, OK and Cancel. Cliking ok will send me too a similar

message and cancel will just keep refreshing it.

I have a dual core cpu running at about 2.66ghz, and a 6600 gt gpu and 2 gigs of RAM, im running windows xp pro.

I installed it on my mums laptop which has far inferior specs, and it works fine.

I should also note that i had had a copied version of SC4 installed and un-installed a few years ago(which worked fine), and a few months ago, when i reinstalled it, the .exe wouldnt open. Which prompted me to buy a newer version.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

How many times have you tried installing it? Reinstalling might help, as well as checking the old SC4 file. There may be old or conflicting programs inside there. Deleting those have helped other people on this site as well. Another quick question: did you install any mods or BAT files? Those could be in the way of installation.

Yeah, try removing the plug-ins first, then return it back after the installation. If you still get the error, try scanning your PC for viruses.
