Roadside Bus Stops.

I've seen some roadside parking lot things, and I'm surprised no one has thought of doing the same with bus stops. That way you wouldn't have to waste a whole 1x1 lot for a measly bus stop. Seriously, how many bus stops take up as much space as a house. This is just my suggestion that I don't think has been done yet.

Actually, this has been done already.  Look for DarkMatter's Transit Supermodd in the mods section of this site.  It includes the Road-Top Mass Transit stops that I believe you are looking for.

Well, if that's the case, then that would be great. I'll look for it.

EDIT: Ok, I found it, but there's some issues with it that make it unusable. Quote from the readme: If plopped in front of a 1xY residential zone, an NRZ (No Road Zot) will appear, and the lot will abandon.

I've seen roadside parking things and such that work perfectly, so I'm sure someone could make roadside bus stops that work. Besides, if I get enough people interested in it, maybe we'll see some really cool bus stops.

Dude, it ain't gonna work, it sounds like you are not understanding the issue correctly though.
The roadside parking lots you speak of are for BESIDE the road, the bus stops are for ON TOP of it.
This is a game issue, nothing we can do about it.
For proof, plop a toll booth in front of a 2x whatever lot and it will abandon (or two 1x something lots).

Just place the road top stops so they don't block the zones.

To expand on what sir Gawain was saying, as it may be a little unclear, is that once a zone has developed to be more than one tile wide (2x3, 3x3 etc), then you can place an on-road busstop in front of that building, as at least one other tile is still up against a 'normal' section of road. Zones don't downsize once they have developed... they can only stay the same size or get bigger, so unless you manually demolish the buildings that front against the bus stop, then there shouldn't be any problems. Alternatively, you can place these bus stops outside of civic buildings, as long as they are also wider than 1 tile (not in front of the small fire station, in other words<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/9.gif>)

I suppose each roadtop bus stop that I place in low density residential areas could have a small park or something in front of it. That's a big hassle, though. I might as well just use regular bus stops.

I would like to see some screenshots of the modded road top mass transit stations. Can somebody here post a screenshot or a link to where I might see them? 2.gif

Do these stops prevent cars from traveling through them like a normal bus stop? I thought I noticed that kind of behavior when I placed them, but maybe I was just using a bad mod/bus stop.

Ianden please check the date of the threads you digs up. The previous post is almost 2,5 years old.

Yes that is a know problem and no one have found a solution to it, and not likely to do so.
