Digging lots broken

I'm having a strange problem with the digging lots: all of the sudden they simply don't work. If I draw a road/rail/whatever over them, the area gets red and it says "unsuitable grade for construction". The problem appeared while I was playing, a minute before I succesfully used the lots. Can anyone help?

Sometimes the cursor just bugs, try hovering over the area really fast, like as if you was just randomly throwing the mouse everywhere, that often works for me 9.gif

My only thought is that you are using them on land that is close to sea level (which is 250 meters, by default).  If, for example, you are using a 15 meter digger on land that is 260 meters high, you will get that message, but you should be able to successfully create a hole on the same tile with the 8 meter digger.  Play around with the different depths -- if the lower depths work, that is probably the reason.  If you have the extra cheats file, use "terrainquery on" and you will get information about the terrain properties when you hover over anything with the query tool.  The y value is altitude.  Use "terrainquery off" to turn off this effect.

ArchangelMichael pretty much summed it up. That is usually the problem, if not, it could also be that there is a stretch of highway or rail right next to the spot you want to change and it can not handle the slope once you change the terrain. I've had this problem since I have a mod that makes realistic slopes for roads and rails.

It's a coastal area, so I guess that's the problem. Thanks.
