Need help please!

I have a small problem with SimCity 4 When I start the game everything is fine, after a few dozen minutes to go to my desktop pops up is not any information about the error. Maybe someone already had this problem and solved it please help.

A little more info please. CTDs like you have had can be caused by several things like how many cores your CPU has, A faulty or misinstalled plugin, plugin conflicts, hovering over TEd lots with a puzzle piece too long or whatever. I cant help you unless you tell me what you are doing specifically.

Do you have a Dual-Core processor ?

If so, you can try and change the shortcut link to the game.

Just add -CPUCount:1 in the target field.

One solution is the save the city often.

Although advisable at any time, it cannot be called a solution. There are some simple, albeit fallible rules:
1) if the game does not go far past the log, it is usually a hardware issue, i.e., graphics card, sound card, SRAM vs DRAM;

2) if the region loads and some cities (but not all) open to an immediate CTD, it is most likely plug-ins related, and may point to unpatched or wrongly patched games;

3) if it crashes after ten or more minutes of gameplay it is invariably processor related, because the CPU can switch processors when other services of the OS cause its load balance to exceed internal limits. SC4 then no longer finds its previous memory address. Zoom crashes are an example of that. NAM puzzle-piece crashes are the exception to that.

In this particular case it maybe a mix of 1) and 2), because an ATI card is involved, and it is by now common knowledge that ATI & SC4 have a haphazard relationship at the best of times.

I'd advise playing a few times with an absolutel empty plug-ins folder; updating the graphics card driver if possible, and if all that fails, test the affinity/priority as follows:

Load to region view but do not open a city;
ALT-CTRL-DEL to the task manager & switch to the Processes tab;
find simcity4 and right-click on it;
Then set Affinity to CPU0, and priority to High. Close the tsk manager and begin to play. If the game now goes past the usual 10-15minute mark, you need to fix the SC4 EXE permanently (or repet that process after every game start). The fix can be found in he Omnibus (SC3 & Vista)

Hi, I also have this problem. My SC4 was working just fine and then I decided to download some plug ins. Then when I tried to play again it crashed when I was about to load the city. I can get into the region but my cities won't load. I also removed the downloaded plug-ins but still it doesnt work.

For everyone: the Exception Reports only ever contain a few lines of interest to anyone but the original programmers, in this case (really, the rest just cluters up these posts):

Two things are notable: that it is an access violation - meaning the EXE's loader tried to get something from disk or memory, and the OS told it to bugger off. And the second thing is the available RAM: 52mb. That just won't do. You really need to - at least - increase the size of your paging file, preferably on a secondary drive (it's waht I use USB sticks for).

256mb on an nVidia card should suffice, but you may be better off to start with a lowere reslution & graphic detail, then, as it works, keep increasing it until it crashes again.

As for plugins: if it crashes with an empty plugins folder as well as with a full one, you will need a lot of patience: start by moving back things in small groups; and try starting a new, basic city first. If that works it most surely is a plug-ins problem: it means that some of your city absolutely cannot do without some, but also crash if a certain other is loaded - determining that means a lot of trial and error.
