NAM Simulator Z Problem - No Job Zot

First, let me say this site rocks, and so far I haven't really had to ask any questions due to the wealth of info here. However, I'm running into a problem that I can't solve. I'm running simulator Z from NAM, and for some reason I'm having a very hard time keeping new $$$R from having immediate commute problems. They move in, and almost immediately put up a no job zot. Before I go further, let me reassure you that I understand the standard reasons for $$$ going jobless. I keep taxes up and am careful with amenities as to have the $$$R move in slowly, keeping pace with $$$ jobs. I undertsand that $$$Ind and C only have a portion of their jobs going to $$$R, so I make sure I have plenty. I have a large population of $ and $$R to support the economy is general. Not saying I'm an expert, just that I know the basics. I have a standard grid layout city that I use when testing any mod that significantly changes the game. Sort of my "control" city to see if a mod is to my liking. I'm using this city and there is no congestion. $ and $$R find jobs easily, and as the simulator is meant to do, will even travel long distance to jobs while still considering their commute "short". But for some reason $$$R will get the no job zot almost immediately. I've tried this twice, and in one city which got pretty big, even the $$R run into this problem after a while. This "control" city has almost never failed me. The only reason I don't use it all the time is that it gets boring after a while. Props to anyone with suggestions, help, or references to past threads on this topic.

Oh I forgot to mention that a while ago I read on SC4Devotion, that since NAM Simulators run slower than vanilla, that often if you pass in game time too quickly, new residents will not be able to find a job within the 6 month limit. Does anyone think this is the problem, and if so what can I do about it? I thought about this for a while and have been running the game on turtle speed. No solution.

    Hi klanko,,

i just read your post.. Im also using Sim Z... and I have done testing for Z1 (the

man who created traffic sim Z)..

First I doubt there is any issue with Traffic sim Z itself...

You seem quite knowledgeable about the game so that certainly helps !..

Also as you know R $$$ are the hardest group to keep from moving out because of

their inabilit to find jobs at times

as you seem to be aware of !...

here is a chart i have which you might find useful of where the different wealth class sims

will find jobs typically.. actually I will just show you the % of R$$$ which  the different

types of zones employ.. The percentages show you a portion of the total work force for

    that type of job..

    CO $$$   15 %

    CO $$     10 %

    I- HT        10 %

    CS $$$     8 %

    CS  $$      5 %

    I-  M           5 %

    farms      none

    I- D          none

    CS $       none...

as you can see there tough customers these R $$$, as far as providing jobs for..

Also I doubt your problem has to do with long commute times as you seem to think its

mostly only the R $$$ are the ones moving out.. well directly of course i mean..

( as an indirect cause, yes there travelling long distances maybe in an attempt to find

jobs or possibly not able to find any at all)... although if it goes on long enough and your still

not able to cause it,  its a bit of a pain but you could post a couple pics of your situation which

would than be helpful to those trying to help you like myself.. Id like to see how you have

your transport system set up.. Also another hint is to provide various forms of mass transit

for these picky sims as well as road, buses and highways if you can..

As to the game out racing the traffic sim , ive often wondered about this possibility myself..

Ive never actually verified though any issue with it , and I assume your game would have to be

heavily lagged to even consider this a possibility  Also part of the reason for game lag may be

the rest of the game is waiting on the traffic sim to do its thing, and the dates wont move no matter what speed you have the game on , until that criteria has been met.. although im really

not sure its works that way.. Although i know what you mean, as when i see abandonment

that i find puzzling I always consider this in the back of mind also.. However eventually I seem

to find some other cause for the abandonment is all i can tell you on this..

anyways hope this helps you a little, and keep us posted on how your doing with this issue..

    Thanks Brian
