Yet another rail question

How much of the rail stations (freight and passenger) does the tracks need to cover for the station to work properly?

I think as long as the stations touch a portion of the rail (with the station parallel to the railway of course), you should be fine.

All it needs is to touch it; it can even be diagonal and it would work, as long as the corner is touching/just next to the rail. At least, it's worked in my case

So, what does the station need to face, the road or railway?  I mean, which does the arrow have to be lined up with?

It doesn't matter. I don't know why they need the arrow in such an instance, but they do.
