May I present to you:

Soyuz Sovetskjkh Respublik Sushill ( SSRS )

Population: Census count 1980 = 265.000
Languages: Hungaro-Istrian
Religion: North-West Sushill: Roman Catholic ... South-East: Sunni Moslem
Economy: Tourism, Fishing, Mining and Manufacturing Industry,
Form of Governship: Peoples republic

AS I write this I am tera forming the map with Cycledog's excellent modd. This is the first time that I use it, so it will take some time to get the hang of it. I am also using PEG's Mossy Granite Mod, and his Brigantine Water Modd untill there is consensus about the water mod.

Here is the very first screen shot of the SSRS ...

Looking very nice, so what kind of watermod is still not decided.. and mrbisonm you have a river running towards the ocean so you will still need the same watermod I guess.

Mickebear maybe we could use the yelow looking rockmod?

Nicolais: A sovjet state haha this could be very interesting I think. About the history... I will give you a framework before this weekend.

    Hey all!

So, everybody is free to use his own favourite rock mod - and I think mrbisonm is free to use his mods. However, one detail: when we prepare transnational screenshots / mosaics, then the two-three players should have at least same watermod at time of taking the screenshot. Easy stuff, just load the decided rock/watermod to your plugins, and take it out when the co-op pix are no longer needed. I have put all my mods in C:\program files\maxis\sim city 4\plugins folder, instead of the plugins in my documents (found out that any region plays painfully with my custom beast machine, because I have around 2 GB of plugins on my desktop machine, so I am playing my Istrska Pula on a virgin installation on my laptop - quicker), like this, I can govern quicker qny needed changes on mods.

About taking the screenshots: you'd better always take a 1024x768 screenshot and paste it directly to your image editor program. Question: what kind of image editor programs you have? I have bought Photoshop CS, because I have tested it at work, and it seems to fit to my other purposes very well as well.

Hmmm ... I never knew you could also place certain files in the Simcity4 plugins folder. Is this possible only for mod files? If more files could be transfered to that folder the game would most certainly load a lot quicker then it does now.

to Patrick: For now the SSRS is a Sowjet state, but I promise you that will change during our cj ... I am not going to tell any particulars yet ... its a surprise 9.gif

Mickebear, I have tried to download that file you send me for the last two days and maybe 8 or 9 times and the only thing I get when I open it with winzip , is this message below.....sorry, I cannot seem to find what the problem is.42.gif

mrbisonm, try using winrar, you can download it at www.rarlabs.com , if that doesn't work then download it to my documents and open it with winrar or winzip.

mrbisonm, if the advise of SuperChad doesn't work, I will put your region in a few pieces and send it to YouSendIt like that. Sounds as if there is a corruption in the upload, because I can open the zip file with XP without any problems. Please let me know, I work nights tonight, so I can do it at any time.

It is not a problem of the zip-program, because it says the same with winrar. I think the file is corrupted. Maybe a change in the name of the file and upload it again might help?41.gif

    It takes me 82 minutes to download....big file.....<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/21.gif width=16>

mrbisonm: alright, I will split it into 4 parts, but remember to download them all before you actually open them with SC4. The size of the original zip is 16 MB.

Hello.... can you ALL please save this map on your computer and fill in some geophysical names like bays, rivers, seastreets etc etc?? If you have a geophysical part that runs into more nations please negotiate...

    <ahttp://img103.imageshack.us/img103/7853/gmi0mi.jpg align=baseline>

Mickebear.. can we call the flat land in the east at the sea the Martinus Lowlands or something like that and do have a suggestion for the mountainrange???

Alkaola or mrbisonm... how do we call the river??

EDIT: mrbisonm I think the northern part of my nation is just to flat so I make hills etc.., maybe we can have a flat piece of land around our national border, as a valley between the higher parts of our nation.. and maybe we can create a small river (with PEG pond or something like that) on some places to act as a border, that would be very realistic. Maybe we can call the valley the same as the river?

All: what about starting in the year 1992 or like that, we are still somewhat poor and so like almost no highways, big modern companies and offices etc etc...? And then we can, looking to the EC as example, creat a common open market so our economies would flourish??

Ok, Mickebear, I received your 3 parts of the region, but somehow they don't seem to show up all, as you can see on the pictures below. It doesn't really matter though, because I can handform the missing part. All I have to know: Is the river supposed to look like this?....And are there any mountainous terrain touching the south?
I will terraform some of my land to my liking also, of course taking care not to touch the neighboring cities, the ones that touch my neighbors. I will have a big river that comes from the mountains (meltwater)and goes south and then connect to the existing river in the east, which probably will have to be enlarged, so that I can have access to the sea somehow, because later I would like to be able to ship my grains via ship/River. I also have to know who my actual neighbors are, because I cannot remember....sorry, maybe Alzheimer is getting to me.47.gif
I know that petricknl is somewhere. Are you east or south of me?
    Norland2.jpg

After these questions will be answered, I will start terraforming (that means if my wife has nowhere to go to, since I am on vacation in a Beach-hotel in Virginia until sunday.21.gif
Once finished, I'll show it here.2.gif

Edit: I will name the river that I will be terraforming  *Beluga* and the one where it will empty itself to, I will leave the naming of it to my eastern neighbor, since he has the riverdelta in his/her region. Whatever it will be, I will name it so.
My mountain range will be called *The Gallogan Shield* and the valleys will follow, once I terraformed it.

I designed the National Coat of Arms of the Repubblica di Arcazzio.. here it is... the National Flag is exactly the same, five vertical light blue bands, and four white ones. PS Maybe ones of us (Mickebear maybe) can make a flaglot, 1x1 with our national flag on it??????

    coatofarmsarcazzio20cr.jpg
The Republic of Arcazzio consist of eight Contea's, a administrative area, like provinces.
    1) Contea d'...?? - adm. center is the natonal capital which has no name yet
    2) Contea d'Arco-Basso (Lower-Arco) - adm. center is Castelnuevo d'Arco
    3) Contea di San Martino - adm. center is San Martino-Altura (suburb of the Arcazzian part of San Martino)
    4) Contea d'Arcazzio-Veneto - adm. center is Porto d'Italia
    5) Contea di Val d'Arco (Valley of the Arco) - adm. center is Barbano
    6) Contea d'Arcazzio-Marittimo - amd. center has no name yet
    7) Contea d'Arcazzio-Interno - adm. center is San Domenica nei Campi
4.gif Contea di Val ...?? - adm. center has no name yet

mrbisonm... I sent 5 parts, so this means that you have received ONLY 3... grrrr... cannot trust YouSendIt. I have the 2 missing parts to be resent to you, part 4 and part 5. I emailed you their webaddress, they are in my personal web space.

EDIT: Your neighbour to the south is petriknl and to the east Alkaola (who hasn't been very active in this thread for some time, Wim, wake up!)

petriknl: I can try to see if I could modify some existing flags to have 'our' flags there. That is a challenge. I am also studying if I could transform some of the existing flora to mayor mode trees, Jeronij's thread gave me last night some inspiration. I would really like to see mayor mode rosebushes and rhododendron bushes.

Sorry for double posting, but I think this is important:

We have three players that have not let themselves be heard:
Pikatchoum: last message 12/July/2005 (on vacation 5 weeks)
Baro: last message 13/July/2005 (really no news at all)
Artorius: last message 2/July/2005 (also no news at all)

I know that Pika is on vacation, but the others have not had the courtesy of telling anything to us. I would like to wait yet another week (let's say until 23 August), and if we don't hear from Baro or Artorius, we have two choices: either we look for 2 new players, or we decide that 2 of the remaining regions will be joined to their neighbours.

I know it is holiday season and all, but when I see that some of the team members visit regularly Simtropolis, I would like to see your thoughts on our thread too. Or if you are not interested, please be respectful enough to tell that to the rest of us, so that we can start to plan something else. We have only really 5 active people here: petriknl, mrbisonm, NicolaiS, Simmania and Mickebear, and we could use help of the remaining team as well.

I don't want to turn to an nagging mom, but... it would be nice to hear of you and your work for our project.

Although this is our own thread, I, as the moderator for this Forum, must act as a moderator and remind you that the rules are for everyone and everytime, without any exceptions. Please, the next time if you want to repost, use the Edit button to add the texts to your last post, instead of double-posting. Thank You.2.gif

I was thinking... we, the Istrinian nations, are not alone in our world also... so what would be our neigbours...? Looking to the reallife region I think... to the north.. Slovenia. To the west Croatia and maybe Bosnia. To the south.. the Adriatic Sea...and to the west..also sea, except from the northwest.. there would be Slovenia again and not very far away is Italy.. (Trieste) We are in the black square I guess....

Please do NOT look to those maps for inspiration... we are fictional not real so don't look at names etc.. make up your own... although keep it realistic!!

I think we have enough to worry about our regions for the moment, instead of worrying what there is beyond. It really doesn't matter I think. Let's concentrate of what we have, because there is more than enough in it already.

Thanks Mickebear, I have received the missing pieces of my region and everything is working fine now. It is greatly appreciated, merci beaucoup!48.gif

I have done some planning of my region of myself and this is about what the region will look like, once I finished it.
I like water, lots of it, the more the better and you probably have seen this on Genesis of Nexis already. So I added a lot of smaller rivers that come from the mountains and the mountainlakes and ponds, separated into two separated river plans caused by the new hills that I will create ( I hate flatland47.gif) One will lead directly into the existing river and the other one into a big lake at the foothills, which will empty into another river that will flow south to petriknl's region, who is willing to have it continued into his region also and connect it to the sea.
I need the sea access by river to have some industrials harbours on the lake.
Hope that is fine with everyone else.2.gif

I would like some closeups of petriknl's and Alkaola's regions please, so I have a better idea, how the landscapes continue further south and east.2.gif

Big white X's are the spots where I will have the major cities, four in all, and of course there will be many smaller towns and villages.

mrbisonm, I am happy that it worked finally for you and that you are full in action. More water the better, and in your case, your nation wasn't so blessed with it. In my case, I have more than enough...

As you noticed, I also landscaped my region, because flat is flat... I didn't touch the borders with Petriknl, for the reason that we can easier take our screenshots.

I also had a bit time to play this evening, so I started to think where my pre-1992 population map was laid (this is what is to be build ready before the CJ actually starts). Of course the roads leading to north and to south must be negotiated and calculated with respective neighbours, before I actually build my border communes.

Very nice terraforming. Looks sharp!! What rock-mod are you using? I might use the same, if you don't mind.
Now I have a suggestion , just look at the picture and then let me know what you think.

    arcazziogeoconf..jpg

I cannot do any terraforming on my region at this time, because I am still on vacation, but as soon as I get home and have access to my homecomputer again (do I miss it...41.gif) I will do some serious terraforming on my region.2.gif

Maybe I shouldn't have, but somehow I couldn't resist. I have the game of SC4 on my laptop with me here on vacation, but I didn't have all the downloads that I have in my Homecomputer. I simply wanted to pass some time tonight, so I started to download some mods from ST that I have at home and I began to scuplt and terraform my Norland region. Oh boy....it took me almost 4 hours and the results are below.
Now I have to transfer this to my homecomputer, which of course will be quite a transfer.
Here is the finished region without all the detailing and you can see that it is far from what it was. I like water, much of it, and before I didn't have almost any, except for little pieces of the river here and there. I added a big lake and another river that I hopefully can attach to petriknl's region some day, seen on the lower left. The mountains also have some lakes and ponds and also some smaller creeks. Another small river is up north, which travels through 6 different counties before it recaches the only river that I was blessed with before.
I also modified a little bit the mountains and added some hilly land in the east and south. As I said, quite different from what it used to be.

    1NorlandFiniReduced.jpg

This is where the townships are, ten in all. Some are medium, small and some big ones. I named them so they sound like they're far up north somewhere in Europe or elsewhere (fictionous). These are all invented names of course, and it would be a coincidence if they actually exist.

    2NorlandFiniReducedCounties.JPG

Here are the names for the waterways, such as creeks, rivers and lakes, but only the most important ones for the moment. The riverin the east, that touches Alkaola's region and which disappears in the south where petriknl has his region, I called Norgosk, for no specific reason. This will not be the most important river though, since I plan to have a harbour on the Schlomberlake, that is connected later with the sea (I hope) by the Dynerle River, which is ship navigatable (southwest).

    3NorlandFiniReducedLakes.JPG

And here is a last look at the first villages, towns and Cities that I plan in the futur. There will be more, when we actually start playing. Pehl, although not the biggest, will be Norland's Capitol and Soderborg will be the Center of business and Industry.

    4NorlandFiniReducedCities.JPG

    I'm glad that's done!46.gif

petriknl, I have made some close up pictures of the river, with the grid on,. so you can see how many tiles wide and where exactly it touches your region in the third Citytile from the upper left. If you want to have them, say so and I'll send them to you.

Looking so REAL!! Absolutely marvellous... The Norgosk River that is crossing my nation in the northeastern corner will be named Fiume Norgione by my people... and lying at the banks of it will be a city which has Norgione in its name (not yet sure what the rest will be).

The Dynerle River (or Fiume ... ehh I am thinking about a good Istrinian Italian name) runs very very.. 44.gif I hope to see the detailed map soon

Here are the close-up pictures of the third City tile from the bottom left of My region, meaning it will be equal to your region's third top from the left, petriknl.
This is a general view. I made the river close to the border to the fourth tile, because it will be a lot easier for you to do the adjustments.

    dynerle1.jpg

Again, third Citytile from the left.

    Dynerle2.JPG

And here the close up of the gridtiles. I made the river as straight as it should look natural to cross the borderlines and I used the deep valley tool at Cityview 1 with size 3 (hold shft and click on 3). The river is between 13 and 14 gridtiles wide, meaning half of a grid doesn't even show on the regionview. And it is between 5 and 6 gridtiles from the right border, which also will be easy for you to adjust.
The depth I don't think really matters, because the views will be attached and we don't see the depth of the northern parts anyways.
    dynerle3.jpg

There is a whale in the river for reference, so we can see that the river is wide enough for shiptravel, which would be important to my people later.

Norgosk River named in your country, Fiume Norgione, sounds just marvelous, really Great! That you will have a small town near it with Norgione in it will be just perfect, since I also will have a small village only, called Norgosk nearby your border, which will later maybe become an important Borderline between the two Nations, a real Frontiertown.
Now the Dynerle River has something to do with Dynasty, maybe that will help you find a name for it.
One thing that is not certain to me at all petriknl, I would like to know the exact full name of your region41.gif. I know all the counties, rivers and valleys etc.

Thanks Mickebear and have a nice Vacation (holiday) Come back safely.2.gif

I'm back from another week of vacations. I've been trying to load my regional map of my region but It doesn't work and I don't know why. I've made everything that was wrote in the e-mail but when I see my map from the SC4 and I click on it there's just nothing, like the image isn't here but the name is...... Can someone help me? This is the second image that mickebear sent to me and not the first, I think there's a problem because I have downloaded another map on the Stex and it worked!

EDIT: Mrbisonm, what water mod are you using? I will probably use the same than you and also I suggest that everyone use that water mod. I really don't want to switch my water mod for screenshots... Really don't want.... And finaly I downloaded the cycledogg's terrain mod and It work great!

    RE-EDIT:

Here's the name of my nation and geographical zones... For the 2 Islands I thought for the longer island Thisanes and for the island at the right Br

mrbisonm: Thanks for your good explaination.. I will look to the river tomorrow evening (I am working tomorrow at a big Swedish company who sells furniture hehe). About my region name please note it is not a region it is a NATION, and Istrina is the REGION.

The full name of my nation is Repubblica d' Arcazzio, the map I send to you showed the Contea's (districts) and I have also Comunes which are the municipalities.

Simmania: good to hear from you again...can we get some more information about your nation, like language etc...?? I think the naming is ok, thank God you renamed the Filka Bay into Baya Novazzan... is Novazzan a city or something else?
