Trouble with Ubuntu

so ive downloaded Ubuntu and burned it onto a disc, installed it, rebooted, and Windows wont let me use Ubuntu. I chose to run Ubuntu with Windows. What i saw on youtube was when you restart your computer before Windows launches you can either choose Windows or Ubuntu. However that screen will not show and automatically boots Windows.

 this is very frustrating. anybody have any experience with Ubuntu installation or has had this problem and would like to help? Im all ears...or should i say eyes hahaha but seriously id like some help with this.

So, basically what you are trying to do is dual boot your system?
If so, what you have to do is cut the size of your windows partition (or add a second HDD), and install Ubuntu on the free space. If your computer still works, do this:

1: Back up all your data and reinstall windows, making a partition less than the maximum size (assuming your HDD isn't almost at capacity)
2: copy all your data over and insure that the new windows partition works
3: install Ubuntu, and select "use disk free space" (or something like that) when it asks you where you want to install
4: after installation, reboot your system. If everything went well, you should now be able to see the OS menu.

Did you use "Wubi"? Otherwise you can't use the linux bootloader (GRUB) with the windows bootloader.

problem solved. just had to keep trying. thanks though
