Question: Difference between program files plugin folder and program files plugin folder

Hello, I've got a burning question: What's the difference between the programfiles/maxis/simcity4/plugins folder and the my documents plugin folder? At the moment, i put everything in the my documents folder because i put my props etc. there too. If i put a lot-file in the my documents folder and the model file in the program files folder, will the building appear in my game?

Programs is global, My Documents is local (ie specific to the logged on windows user).  Generally though its best to keep all your plugins in the one place, ie the My Documents plugins. I only use the Programs one for Maxis content and not third party content, unless it absolutely has to be global.

The My Documents plugins loads last. If you have more than one copy of a plugin with the same TGI then the last loaded version takes effect, and the earlier loaded one is over-ridden.

Personally I can't see any compelling reason for a model file to be in the Programs plugins rather than the My Documents plugins. You can try having it there but if it doesn't work then just shift it to the My Documents plugins. It doesn't hurt to try.

If you use the Plugin Manager, a model file will only show up in it if the file is in the Documents Plugins mother folder.
