importing cities to regions

Hi, I just recently tried to import my old cities into a new region but they do not face the right direction for them to fit well in my new region.  I was wondering if there is a way to somehow rotate the city so that it fits nicely in your region before or after you import it? I know this is probably impossible but its worth a shot.  Thanks so much.

Ahhh... Thought maybe you were having problems importing. Maybe a bit of terraforming?

I AM having trouble importing some previous cities in my new region. Problem is they don't show up in the import browser ; strangely only the "virgin" cities show up (this meaning the ones i dint start yet like "new city 1 " or whatever) so the whole situation is completely upside down for me 4.gif) . Anyone have a hint why i cant see them ? I tried moving them in the downloads folder from my documents .. no luck though... and yes, the cities are the correct size (because all grids in the new region are LARGE) .

Have you tried to import one of the 'virgin' cities? If so, what appears in the game - a completely flat city or one that has been terraformed? Also, have you done anything to the actual city files you placed into the Downloads folder, or are they copies from others in a different region?

I have indeed tried to import and it works, i get the fresh, non-touched terraformed city just as it is; not a blank spot. The original files remain in their original folders, i just copy pasted to experiment . This is really odd ... i can't understand why only "new city" files can be imported and the others nada..  46.gif

Just to be sure... I understand your new cities are large, but were the original cities that you're looking for also large cities, not medium or small? Only cities of the same size can be imported into a city tile.

Did you copy/paste into the Downloads folder or into the new region folder? I've had issues when trying to copy/paste cities directly from one region folder to another - didn't always work - especially for developed cities.

Additional note: There was another member who had a similar situation. After going through several different trial attempts, it was thought that perhaps he may have tried to rename cities by changing the file names themselves rather than using the game to do it. That doesn't work and could have led to some confusion when looking at the various files - thinking it was a cetain file but in actuality it was another. This may have led to things getting mixed up and some cities not appearing for import as expected. I say this only in the case you have tried to change the names of any cities by renaming file names. If you haven't, then it wouldn't be your issue.

Suggestion: If you have a backup of the original region, delete everthing out of the Downloads folder. Then copy/paste all files from the original region into the Downloads folder. Open the new region and see what's available for import. Let us know...
