Hi! I'm very new to BATing, and I have a few questions concerning 3D Studio Max. First of, how do you get the textures to appear in Gmax and BAT? My 3DS model is this:

coa3d.jpg

but when i export it to BAT as a 3ds file it looks like this:

COAbat.jpg

Do you know how to make the textures work?

Also, I made this flag, but the back side won't appear :/

flag2.jpg

Does anyone know whats wrong?

Thanks in advance 4.gif

If the flag was drawn from a spline or a single mesh face a uvmap placed on it is always drawing the texture from the plane side since a plane is only 1 sided. There is a way (can't remember) to assign the uvmapping to be double sided. Or you could extrude the flag by a tiny amount creating a 2 sided flag.

One way to make the texture appera on both sides is to go to the texture management box and check the double-sided option.

You could try downloading the 3ds max version of the BAT, available on the modds and downloads section of this site. I don't know if that would work, I haven't actually tried it yet myself. Are the textures images, if they are, you could create the same textures in gmax.

Oh, if you take this tutorial (http://storm.prohosting.com/mindcndy/watertutorial.html) it explains everything. It practically has to do with the image used for texture and the lighting of the entire project. However that tutorial does not give reflections, so i added another layer on top used a transparent 40% reflective material to get the Coat of Arms reflection.

You'll need to retexture everything in Gmax. Also, there are no reflections in Gmax.

It would be better if you used BAT4Max (available in a sticky in this thread if you haven't gotten it) to render it from 3ds Max instead. You'll get much more worthwhile results.
