Graphic problem? I can't see important thing

When I'm choosing something from menu to build, for example zone, road, buildings, I can't see under the cursor how many squares are needed to build that thing. I can't even see squares on the ground... I did't have that problem before reinstalling my windows. Can someone help me?

The [G] key toggles the grid on, and off.

It doesn't work. I can see only a big shadow on the ground. Any other ideas?

I saw another thing... I can't see the range of buildings such as school, police station, etc.

I don't have any idea what's causing that problem. You may have some corrupted files.

Can you give more history of when this started?

It started after reinstalling winxp. But I have the same drivers and settings... I've tried to reinstall the game, but it didn't solve the problem

Which version of the game do you have, Classic, or Rush Hour/Deluxe?

Have you installed the game update patch?

Have you checked the game options to see if they are set the same?

I have classic sc4. Everything is set as it was earlier

Are you sure the "visual effects" option is at least set at medium? I know that when it's set to low it gets rid of some of the previews, specifically for roads and the directional arrows on lots. It might also be responsible for hiding the coverage radiuses of your civic buildings too.

I checked everything. Even if all options are set at high, the problem still exist
