Building computer, what should I look for?

First thing, I am a newb, not just to this forum but building a computer; so consider this

Windows Vista... neh or yeah? Do they even sell XP anymore? I really want Vista, call me crazy but I am perfectly ok with it. It looks nice, unlike XPs rainbow colors. Overall, doesn't just about everyone play SC4 on Vista?

I hear that ATI graphics do not get along with SC4 to well?

I am also confused about the mixed thoughs on dual-core processors; even that, what about quad-core?

Forgive me, but I really want to get into SC4 again. I've played it before, but not the rush hour expansion and all the new tricks that I have found on simtropolis. Plus the Journals here are really enspiring .

I built my own PC for the game, just to accomodate my HUGE plugins folder.

I suggest:

Vista (I like it too)

Any good graphics card (the ATI bug is a myth)

Dual-or multi core processor (there are ways around the bug)
