Game quits part way through map installation, help!

I start a new region, do the ctrl+alt+shift+r thing to get the file, it gets about halfway through and crashes! any and all help is appreciated.

It's possible you have a background program the is interupting the render.

Have you tried loading in a small map and seeing how it goes? Only ask cos once I had another program running minimised which was rendering something and that uses loads of memory, I started to import a map and it crashed on me... if you tried a small one as opposed to a biggy you could confirm or rule out that your comps memory just flunked out?

Another thing ... did you have anything running in the background? I sometimes forget to close messenger or the stupid BT broadband desktop helper opens, some programs will make it minimise to the taskbar, on an odd occasion SC4 will just go blergh and dissapear.
