How to place seaports and beaches?

I've searched for a tutorial on how to place seaports and beaches but, alas, my google-fu is weak.  Could anybody link to a tutorial or explain how these tasks are accomplished?  I'm sure this question has been asked too many times and I apologize for asking again.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Its fairly easy...

Step one is to create an even shore line with your god mode tools (To enter god mode after estabolishing your city, press control + Alt + Shift and click god mode)

Then just place the pieces on the beach or seaport on half land half water, it should turn blue to plop it.

Thanks!  I followed your instructions and was finally able to place a seaport.
