The aging ceiling fan I have in my bedroom has begun to sound like some kind of UFO hovering over my bed, it wobbles and is making that "ruuah ruuah ruaah" noise

so I went into Youtube to look it up...and yeah. So there are lots and lots and lots of videos on "vintage ceiling fans".

Far out

1988 is considered "old"?42.gif

We used to have a ceiling fan in our kitchen. Got rid of it when we redid the room and put in new, more modern lighting (and it would've soon become useless once we installed central A/C, anyway).

Now, that was several years ago (2002), but the fan was probably original to the house, which would have made it 39 years old upon disposal.

And it still worked. Didn't make any funny noises, either.

Simple devices like that can last a long time. The less complicated it is, the fewer ways there are it can break.

I have ceiling fan in all of the rooms in my home(mainly due to the climate), including the kitchen. One of the fans has been with us since 1985, and yeah it does make a weird noise sometimes, but overall it works fine.

Even with central Air ,ceiling fans helps air circulation and  makes the AC work less, and use less power.

My condo has central air and, when I bought it, three ceiling fans were already installed.  They are especially good for the spring, when I don't want to turn on the central air yet because the nights are still chilly but the days are warm enough to appreciate some air circulation.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

I believe the ceiling fan in my room is from 1988...or older.

That thing hasn't been turned off for a while, and it's still whisper quiet.

Yeah, definitely wish I had a fan in here... In my old house we only had one fan, in our living room, that I feel was more for looks than use, as we rarely used it until I was 16 when all of a sudden dad got really eco-friendly, in a not really effective way, lol. In mom's new apartment though, my room could use one sometimes, especially on those 8-hour Mass Effect gaming sessions on my pc.

I wonder if whoever posted that video ever thought he or she would've sparked this thread on a sim city website!
