Lot Editor Installation Problem

Okay, so I was going to use the LE for the first time, and then it simply displays an error message, like when you freeze up a program, and asks to "Send Error Report".

I know you need an installed copy of SimCity 4, and that's what's baffling me.

I have an installed Deluxe Edition, would that be the problem.

It just loaded for a millisecond. The window came up, and then the error window came up.

Well, almost as soon as it loaded, the Error Message came up and the window closed.

Oh, sorry about the quad-post. My browser is being slow today, and I clicked the button a lot to get it to speed up.

Can you maybe try to explain the error a little more? Maybe there is a code it gives you, or tells you something, or is there a logfile that it makes?

Okay, well, here is EXACTLY what happens when I run it. 

It gives me no specific error code, unless I look into the technical specs on the report.

And, as I suggested before, MAYBE it has something to do with the fact that I have the DELUXE EDITION.

So, if there are any mods on simtropolis that would remedy that, please say so.

Well, for one, sorry for the fact that the title is completley wrong. It is the RUNNING of it I need help with.

Sorry for any confusion.

EDIT: I've uninstalled Gmax and the BAT because I've exausted all the potential options I can think of. Thank you though, for all those that have helped. Please close this thread.

Whats going on here is the LE is not responding when you try to run it. This could be because of a lot of reasons, but I am almost certain that you have some kind of conflict i your plugins folder. Try emptying out your plugins folder and re-installing the LE.

Well, from what I have gathered, that may be true, but what plugins folder? In the Sim City 4 folder under Program Files, or under My Documents?

EDIT: Do you even mean the SimCity 4 Plugins folders? Because when I run the Lot Editor, what happens is that it creates a plugins folder outside of the containing folder.

Please don't bump your threads. If you have more to add and no-one else has posted then please just edit your previous post. If people have an answer for you then they will answer in their own time. Like the post button, repeated bumping doesn't make people answer any faster.

If you are having trouble with the Lot Editor then I'd suggest you don't complicate things any further. Just get the Lot Editor working first. There is nothing in the BAT that will make it work any better.

However, you may need to install the game patches and the BAT patch. You didn't seem to mention if you had done this. I don't know if it will help, but its possible that if you have the latest Lot Editor it might not like an unpatched game.

If that doesn't work, also check your screen resolution. If its at a fairly high setting then try dropping it down to 800x600 and then try running the lot editor.

Also does your game run properly? Usually problems that affect the LE also affect the game.

Okay, I'll install the updates. And, no, I haven't seen problems with the game so far...

And sorry about the bump, I am also a resident of the Endorphin forums (member New123456) and so I had no idea bumping one's own thread was so frowened upon on these forums. Thank you for your time.

EDIT: Finally got it working! This thread can be closed, Sam (or any other mod who visits).

It would be helpful if you could tell us what the answer was, in case someone else comes along who is having the same problem. Then they'll be able to solve it straight away.

Okay, so

1) I installed BOTH updates.

2) I cleared ALL my Plugin folders (and made duplicates if something important was in one0

3) I sat and thought, and concluded to place it in the PLUGINS folder in the "Main" (aka in Program Files) Sim City 4 folder

4) Changed the shortcut so that way it said this: "C:\Program Files\Sim City 4\Play Game\Plugins\LotEdit.exe" -f (to use full screen)

5) Ran it on an Admin account (so that way I could acess my BAT models under my ADMIN'S profile0

6) And it finally ran!

EDIT: Sorry for complicating it with the admin business, but my computer has multiple profiles, and only 1 has admin privalages, so complicatoins happen.
