Pretty much its just some little text rewarding the user for some outstanding thing.

Fast in which way? The sonic boom could also be a nice wordplay. Sonic Slow is something I've never heard of. Also, it is known that the character Sonic is very fast, and thus the CML Sonic Boom might just be derived from the fact that you love Sonic.

Well lightning (as in "blue lightning") is the source of the most common sonic boom people hear (thunder), so it is a play on that. In addition, "blue lightning" may also refer to sonic (being that he is blue and "as fast as lightning", not literally of course), so sonic in and of itself is a reference to the user name.

"Sonic Boom" is also the title of a song about (from?) Sonic the Hedgehog. It's in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

I didn't bother compressing it at all, considering how little it is.  I just reduced the size in Photoshop and saved it.  Does it even matter? I mean, 3kb as opposed to 0.5kb? I'm not going to lose sleep over that.
