Other than the horrible grammar and sentence structure, why does someone from Cote d'Ivoire have a Japanese email address? (.jp)

I remember the good ol'days when Spam was short for spiced ham.

Ever since some spam company got shut down by the FBI (or whoever it was)... spam output got reduced by 70%. 3.gif

Uh, this isn't spam. Spam is random messages advertising random things like "You've just been entered to win an iPod Nano!", or enhancing the size of certain parts of the body.

This is what we'd call a scam. That one letter makes a difference. 31.gif

The difference being that spam is annoying but harmless. Scams such as phishing scams are  attempts to actually victimize people via identity theft and whatnot.

....and I don't find this one funny. Seriously, you might wanna report that to the police.

I get similar letters in all five of my email boxes. Every one of them comes from UK and Africa with varying ISP and IP's. They usually try for 1000 to 10,000 initial investments and it's always about them or you getting millions back for the small investment you get suckered into.

Spam is not clearly defined anywhere on the web. Or, I should say, I am still looking....and playing with spam rules. Seems the majority of forums, chatrooms and the like, have no clear rules in place, that put bounderies on spam types. So, if a spammer is creative enough, there is almost nothing the spammer won't get away with posting.

I firmly believe in our solution, here at home: Create a place where spam is welcomed and the rest of the websites spam disappears completely. Yes, completely. No more extra policing by your moderators, as the spam is deposited in one location for easy watching. This is especially helpful, for those who are having major problems with moderation shortages.

I don't get spam or scams. No, seriously, my inbox doesn't have it, my junk filter doesn't have it. Why would this be?

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

One way to cut down on it is to have a separate email account used only for various website registrations and the like. It functions as a shunt for the spam generated by things like job searches, which can bring in a lot of hangers-on. That way my primary address doesn't get a lot of it.

The bogus 'business proposition' stuff is insulting, if I knew anything about hacking or viruses I would target each and every one of these a-holes with something that would destroy their hard drive.

Let no one yield, we're on the field where deeds eclipse the sun; where the brave are told on a thread of gold, the tapestry is spun. As they speak of dreams, their armor gleams, this calm before the storm... Where all can see their destiny, the bishop takes the pawn.
