Is it possible to connect a railway to a seaport?

Is it possible to do with the default port?

or

Has there been a seaport created by someone that allows this to work?

Any replies will be greatly appreciated.

you can do it with the default seaport

on vanilla i had a track of rail leading to the top of the seaport and there'd always be a queue of freight trains waiting to get there

but since getting deluxe, i never see freight trains, i guess its faster for the trucks to leave the city or drive to the port themselves

so the answer to your question is yes, this is possible

there is a mod that allows going from freight train to freight truck on freight stations i beleive its on the stex. so you can place a freight station near the seaport and the trains come to the station and go to the port as trucks

    Hi, edwardsw,

Welcome to Simtropolis.  I think this is what Bboy.JP is talking about.  I haven't tried it, but the comments rate it well.  Since it's a mod without a lot, from what I can see in the picture, it doesn't allow you to visually connect the rail to the seaport--looks like the road must still be used.  Let me know how it works.

Also, this is Peg's latest seaport; it has visual rail connectivity and also acts as a freight station.  There are also some new seaports over at SC4D.  I believe both Peg and the folks at SC4D have offered controllers that allow you to use more than one seaport, but they are mutually exclusive, meaning you must only use mods that are compatible with each of them.

    Have fun.

What happens when you install the Mod AND other transit enabled ports such as PEGs above? Will they conflict? Should the mod be removed if ports like PEGs are used which remove the original seaport anyway? I'd be concerned with conflicts, and/or wasted resources by loading mods that are ineffective due to other plugin(s) replacing buildings that that the first mod effects.

Yes, Cougar2004, you would need to use just the Maxis seaport mod I listed, or just Peg's content and controller, or just the SC4D content and controller.  They should not be combined.  Sorry if I caused any confusion.

    Have fun.
