Creating Almost perfect Tunnels is easy with the Mods Described.

Creating Absolute Perfect Tunnels is a whole different story, altogether.

Heres what im trying to show.
(The Following Picture has not been Tampered1.gif

Incorrect

I messed around with the variation quite a bit, until I actually got the game to co-operate. It let me build a road over a tunnel entrance.  It seems rare.  There are no 1 x 4 transit enabled lots on top of the tunnel entrance.

Conclusion:

Its seems possible to build networks on top of tunnels entraces.  BUT!!! The Terrain has to be 100% flat.

Neat eh?29.gif

Has anyone else gotten this before?

Perhaps if you put the url into the area marked in red in the image below, someone might be able to see it. (Just a hint on uploading images onto the Simtropolis servers. 2.gif

Although I can see the image.

Here, I'll get the image uploaded as a Jpeg.

It seems if the road drives down to the tunnel 'verticially' entrance is easy.  But the horizontial way that I have done it seems to require more skill.

Link at bottom of page.  Probaly the site doesn't support PNG's.  Well, thats one thing I learned.

Hi!
I am new to ST. I want to thank all of you for the great tools and all the comaderie displayed by the denizens of Simtropolis.

I do have one question: I am trying to learn to use the tunneling (Hole Digger) tools, and I have a question: has anyone tried using them on diagonals? And if so, how does one do it?

Thanks again for all the great tools and I hope to be a contributor to this great site!

Did anyone hear from BRF how to alter the gradient for rail? I want to set it to 5%, i've tried changing it with DatGen, but it always defaults back to 2% 47.gif

Yeah, that. I've tried changing it with DatGen, but it refuses to stay that way.

I don't normally use DatGen but I've just had a quick try and changed the number to 5, 8, 10 and back to 2 with no problems with it defaulting back to 2. Also checked in game. DatGen version 0.6.0.21494.

Hmm, so i'm obviously doing something wrong.

I'm gonna talk (type9.gif) myself through this, so then someing can point out what i'm doing wrong.

So i load up DatGen and open the tunnelandslope mod. I click on the appropiate exampler (4th one from the top), and find the maximumSlopeAlongNetwork entry, and double click on it. Under the heading values, is a little box with 2.00000000 written on it, i click on this until the text cursor thing appears, and change the 2 to a 5, then press enter. I hit the 'save' button that is in that little sidebar dialouge thing (where i changed the 2 to a 5), and then i think i'm done, so i exit, renembering to save before i actualy quit.

I reload DatGen, and open tunnelandslope file, and its still at 5%. Hmmm, this is exactly what i did the other 3 times i'm sure, unless i didn't save (from the menu) before closing the file.
OK, so i sorted it out, still i guess someone who doesn;t know what to do can use the above to help them, so i havn't typed it up for nothing. Thanks anyways.

Would it be possible to make a version of this that did the slope mod for rail (kept it to 2%) but didn't control for road? I ask because sometimes the 'flattening' for road gives unrealistic results because I try to do a lot of things with sunken below grade rail and overpass crossings and the like. -- the road-grade control interferes with that but the rail part is helpful.

@ smoncrie :

How can I change direction of the tunnels? I tried ctrl, alt and tab. All the tunnels face north .. I want them also go from west to east.

In advance many thx.

Sorry for bumping the thread, but I was wondering if the Grand Central on page 4 was ever released? I couldn't find it on STEX and I couldn't find any threads on it.

It's to be downloaded from simcity.ea.com under Cool Stuff -> Download -> Landmarks and props. There is an patch for it here at ST under Modding Files. (Functional Grand Central Station Final)

Thanks, but I was referring to the modded Grand Central that can be used with underground tunnels on page 4 of this thread. (The MMTS Grand Central Station with Underground Connections by smoncrie)

That I couldn't tell, propably not if it's not on the stex and as I saw not in the Modding Files section.
Maybe you can better contact smoncrie, if you could have an exemplar or to check if it's available on st.

My thought was that it was I combination of those two, the one on simcity.ea.com and the mod found under the Modding files.

^ From what I gathered, I believe it was a modification of the MMTS mod.

No it's not you. It probaly got lost in the upgrade.

I think it's the BRF Tunnel and slope mod you are looking for, RIGHT ? Have attached BigRedFishs mod to the post as a replacement for the one lost in the upgrade.
