Hello, Hallo7.

Unfortunately, you cannot save a file from SC4Terraformer as a grayscale image.  You can export the file either as a SC4Terraformer .SC4M file OR as a 16 bit .PNG file.

Obviously, the .SC4M file is only useful as an import file into SC4Terraformer.  The 16 bit .PNG file can be read by any graphics editor that supports 16 bit images (such as the PhotoShop CS series of applications).

Keep in mind that if you convert a 16 bit image to an 8 bit grayscale you will lose much of the quality and details of the image.

Regards,

Gary (Vandy)

Hello, Hallo7.

I was further thinking about your request.  Is there a specific reason you need a grayscale image?  Are you going to use it to create a config.bmp file?  There are a number of tools you can use to create a config.bmp file such as the following:

Landscape Designer

SC4 Startup Tool

Graphics Editors

SCRACC

Finally, once you've terraformed your region and have your .SC4M file, all you need to do is have a compatible config.bmp file, save the region in SC4Terraformer then open it in SC4 to render it and play it.

Please consult the articles in the OmniMaps - Mapping and Terraforming Information section of the Omnibus -- specifically the following three articles:

Config.bmp: How to Make it Yours

Installing a Region Downloaded from the STEX

Installing a Map Created by SC4Terraformer

The reason why I want to save it in greyscale is that I only have to put it on SC4 and it's all modded
