Anyone have experience with Blender?

Before I begin, I would consider myself to be fair at creating models in sketchup. These models, however can only be exported to a *.3ds or simmaler file with SU Pro. I found a way around that. Blender, a free modeling software can act as a converter. By importing your *.dae file, and exporting your *.3ds file, you can then get that into SC4 and so on.

The way to do this is simple. You just have to export the file as a Google Earth 4 kmz file, change the file thingy from *.kmz to *.zip, and retrieve the *.dae file from the "Models" folder. After doing that you import the *.dae into Blender and so on and so forth.

The problem arises when I try to import the file, so see, it requires "Python" which I believe is a programming code. I installed version 2.6, the latest one. However, Blender says that Python is not installed.

Anyone got a clue what to do?

Yeah, .kmz is essential just a compressed zip file.

Try doing this:

File --> Import --> Collada 1.4 (dae). This should not require python.

When I try to import it says:

"Please Install Full Version of Python

Check the console for more info"

I can still import all of the other types of files.

I am using Blender 2.48a.
