Screwed up tax revenue

So, a little embarrassed to be posting one of these after being a member here as long as I have, but my tax revenues are REALLY acting up, and I don't want to use "weaknesspays" every ingame month.

Compare the residential population to the residential tax revenue. There's no way that can be right! I've owned this game for four years, and I've never seen this happen before. Advice?

Maybe your IRS should step it up a notch in catching those swindling Sims from pilfering the cash straight from your pockets! 3.gif

You have to think about how many have jobs. If 1000 of the 14,354 have jobs, and they make say 100 dollars a year, that's only 9 dollars per Sim/year. (heh, I don't even know if EVERY Sim in your population even has a job)

Another thing I can recommend, if you aren't already doing so, is setting the funding for your schools, hospitals, and power plants to just enough. This will drastically reduce your funding for these facilities until you have enough tax income to support your expensive game play style.

I do suggest using some money mods though.

Go ahead and use some money mods from the STEX. Or, BSC's funding mod at the LEX

The BSC funding mod freezes all income, and all expenses so that nothing is spent or lost.  Pretty useful!

They definitely have jobs...there is slightly negative demand for everything except all wealth levels of residential, and CS$.

I don't believe I have an expensive gameplay style...funding for schools and hospitals is already set at the minimum, and I only placed police and fire stations after people started rioting a few years back. The only problem is that my residential sims aren't paying taxes!

Could it have something to do with the Industry Quadrupler Mod? I installed that recently after being nearly mod-free (though NAM and RHW are essential).

I can say that whatever your tax problems are, they have nothing to do with the industry quadrupler. I've been playing with the quadrupler for two years and have never had a tax problem like yours.

Do you have neighbor connections? Perhaps Sims transiting between cities to work could have something to do with it.

I do have neighbour connections, but all the sims in the above city work in it.

How would neighbour connections affect the taxes? I'm not skeptical, I just don't...quite see the connection.

Only if the sims were working in the other town, would your taxes be lower due to neighbor connections. However, it doesnt appear that this is your situation.

I have experienced some very strange financial situations when I was using CNTL-X in a test city doing cheats. At one point, my government budget retained $70/mo even though I had demolished all city government structures 6 months earlier. I even demolished the entire city, every road, and dezoned every zone, to prove that this was really an anomoly. So perhaps it has something to do with using cheats. (or perhaps mods)

I think the thing you really are interested in is... resetting it and getting it working without destroying or starting over your city. Well.... here is an idea. Backup your city, demolish all zones and let them rebuild, see if you get the tax amounts that you expect. You don't care about losing income for a few months since you use 'weaknesspays' anyway. Only save if it works, otherwise you can exit and still have your original city to try something else with.

I did demolish and regrow the city, same problem. I have an idea that for some reason the tax revenue is inaccurate with SOMY's buildings, as my city was full of them. In fact, I think they constituted the entire residential population. So, now the question is, how do I change the tax revenue? I went into the SC4Tool but I can't understand the SOMY files for the life of me.
