I don't really understand the whole idea of "letting a thread die..."  It isn't like danielcote was asking when the next update was going to be on a thread that hadn't been posted on for 3 years.  He was merely commending you on your work.

And even if the thread is dead... how is anyone to know this?  you haven't posted anything to this respect.  If you've got a new thread, link to it so that people who 1) come upon this one know that they should look elsewhere and 2) people who are watching this thread would know where to look next for your work.

And who cares if someone posts on it, regardless?  By commenting, you've added an additional two posts (3 now) instead of the initial reply.  If it's dead and you don't want comments, then get a mod to lock it.

And finally, a link to this thread is in your signature.  You could certainly state there, too, that the CJ is closed or on hitatus, too.
