Ports and industry

Well, I like to have my cities stuffed as possible and  I therefore chose to only have $residents. I do that by not having education, thus 95% of my residents become low wealth and they all demand dirty industry 4.gif Funny enough, I have a higher mayor rating in these cities (around 70) than in the ones where most of the people are $$$.

So I have a medium region with some sea where I can place my water plants. I currently have 130 000 jobs of dirty industry, and I have got the pollution up to 1000. In my region I have 400K people

Anyway, I have two questions.

1. A lot of my areas in the industry doesn't have any high density dirty industry, only low density. How do I get more high density industry.

2. I have two ports a bit away from the industry. If I put it in the industry, then the effectivity becomes zero. I think that's because the pollution is too high. However, one of the ports on the other side has recently started becoming lower, but more ports doesn't seem to bring it up. Will ports increase the density of the industry, and how do I make sure that the effecticity is maximized?

The effectivity of the port may be low because it is over used.  Check your port to see how much it is being used.  If it is over used then keep adding ports until they are not over used and the effectivity comes up.

For the first question, I have found that even when zoning all high density industry, most of the lots are filled with low density or 'filler' industry buildings.  I think the simulator fills in a certain percentage of the lots with low and medium density buildings, no matter what you do.

Let me know how it goes.

The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older.  Shorter of breath, and one day closer to death."
