well I know there's a lot of bad things going on on the real estate market in the states, good for ppl like me who want to move there cuz, in certain cases, awesome locations are down to a price not worth thinking about, but then again, when I see things like this story, I feel very very bad for ppl like this family, especially when they have young children.

And what's even worse, I can't understand how there's no landlord willing to accomodate a young family with a child, that's on a (probably not that big, but still) steady income...

Hopefully, the story will come to attention of one or two landlords in the area who give them a chance - but, they are an unfortunate tip of the iceberg.

Google "tent city", and you will get literally hundreds of results.

Take a look through YouTube, as well - quite a bit on them out there.

and that's what kinda annoys me, it's not a single-case-thing, it's actually hundreds or even thousands of families.

Ok, many of them lived abouve their possibilities and are therefore not entirely innocent, but then again, since they're at the bottom of the line, they've learned their lesson so this won't happen again.

And the landlords should see this. they shouldn't see the family that live in a tent cuz they were kicked out of their home for monetary reasons, they should see the family that learned it's lesson from mistakes they made.

I mean, they can at least try it. if the rent is payed regularly and the house/appartment is kept the way it should be, it's ok.

if not, the landlord can still kick them out (they don't deserve it any better then imho)

It's sad that this kind of thing is happening again.

I agree with some of the people above. If they have a steady income, and can pay rent on time,

you'd think they'd be able to get an apartment or something.

Do they qualify for any public housing? Course you have to apply for that a long time in advance

I hope that family mange to able to live in a decent housing instead of a tent before late fall or winter sets in.

HamsterTK: They are "over" qualify because they have a steady job, but then again, they need to be in a decent housing before it gets really cold.
