What do you mean by "that region file"? And where is it located at?

Were you running the game in windowed mode?
If so, then it was most likely caused by clicking outside of the window while the city was being saved.

    Incorrect.

When SimCity 4 is saving it also updates the thumbnails for the city. If it is interrupted in some way, like if SC4 is not selected at the time, the city saves fine, but the thumbnail goes back to the default, flat terrain. However, upon loading the city, you would find that it is fine. Saving again would restore the thumbnails.

But when an entire city tile dissapears, something has gone wrong, very wrong. This almost always means that city has been corrupted. Did SC4 crash while you were saving, muasa?

I would recommend restoring it from a backup you made (if you did make a backup).

It did not crash, but one thing's for sure is that I was alt+tabbing to MSN because my friends were bugging me like crazy.

Could that be the cause? I'm not sure if I alt-tabbed when I was saving though.

Ok... to be honest I am not sure what exactly happened, or if alt-tabbing had caused it (it might have, I am not 100% sure), but pretty much every time the entire city tile has seemingly... vanished off the map, it's been corrupted some how.

Oh well, I created a new city which is doing better than the vanished one so I guess there is no need for finding what happened.

Though I would like to really know what happened. UFO attacks? 43.gif

Maybe it was those darn gremlins again. 3.gif

Just remember to make backups of your region from now on. Especially since stuff like this can happen.

I have also had that happen. I think i was saving the game and attempted to minimize SC4. When I rebooted later on, I saw that my city was empty. When I loaded the city, the city came back with no additional problems. I alt-tab pretty frequently, I would guess that you alt-tab'ed while saving, I would not recommend it. :/ Sorry to hear that you lost your city.
