I have a city in my journal with close to 40,000 people. (before i rebuilt it, it have over 200,000) But even with the higher population, no one used my trains at all. It the beginning, the trains were used heavily. Then all of a sudden, the usage dropped to 0.

I rebuilt hte city, but the usuage stayed the same, 0. For trains anyway. Here's what ive got with a station deep in my city.

As you can see, it IS, being used. That's what the game is telling me through the stats. But then a look at the commuter routes.

And you see, not ONE on any of the rail lines. Its either pedestrian using it as a bypass, or people taking the bus somewhere, or whatever. But not one person is taking the train. I've placed multiple stations throughout the tile so maybe people living in diff. places would use the trains to get around. But no, not one person. A friend, deathtopumpkins suggested that I have a road or avenue or highway thats a quicker route, but I dunno. I destroyed a highway going out of the tile that had a rail line going out next to it. Still no one used the trains. I'm desperate cause trains are crucial to my journal.

I think you problem is you dont have a connecting trasportation. Its like when a sim arrive a station he/she need another transportation to get to where the sim is going. Place a bus, subways near your traain staion and you will see that passenger will increase like mine.

See for yourself:

First the zoom out pictures. Net will be the close-ups

As you can see there are bus stops and subways stations near my train stations. that is how i can boost the pasenger of that station.

Hope it helps you 4.gif

It hasnt helped really. The people who are living near the station are only commuting to nearby office towers. Maybe I should build more residential density cause there's not much, just ploppable commercial.

Well i think i see another problem don't depend on plopabble commercial buildings becuase some can ruin your demand and caps.

By the way  40K people is decent enough sims to get to commute in rail. my city was about 47K people and you can see they use my rail always. Just remeber connection between trasportation is sometimes help to boost your train station used

Rail is usually useful when you are traveling long distances (irl atleast).

Many friends who have 1/2 hour commutes by car choose to take the train because it requires less concentration and is cheaper. That might be the same in your CJ. Maybe try rail in the suburbs ending up in your down town, maybe they will start using it 2-3 tiles out.

    Dunno.
