Update #1

Now that farmer that u heard of in the informational section went by the name of William Benifard.  Will was in love with smokin so..... HE DEVELOPED THE FIRST FARM! whic of course was a tobacco farm.

firstfarmtobacco.jpg

with this new farm, many of the ships survivors built up homes on the southern part of the island.

firstdevelopment.jpg

now, these new sims (McTorrians) were somewhat smart. they had their own way of transporation....CARS! these new revulotionary vehicles help sims get around the city. They also required a surface to drive on.

first4-wayintersection.jpg

Now, with all of these people living in Green Lake, a new farm was needed to supply work and food.

secondfarm.jpg

here's an overview of the developments in the first few months (sim months) of there new, free, lives (note three new farms and couple new residential development)

firstoverview.jpg

Mods used so far:

Farming Jobs Multiplier x10 (soon to be changed to x50)

Streets into Dirt (trolca's street mod)

I would recommend using the SAM instead of Trolca's ancient dirt road mod. Just me though.

looks good, nice farms and stuff too,

maybe you should keep trees around the edges with a few marina's or jetty's or like a mini port, or a ferry or something

and keep trees around the border of the island and keep the farms and towns inside the island.

phoenix7: At the time when i downloaded trolca's i didn't know there was a more up to date version of dirt roads.  thanks tho.  i might use this in the future.

fabsies55: The trees were kinda just spread out through god mode all at once.  I am trying to slowly get more technology, so maybe later on the ports.

jacqulina: Thanks alot.  I have just found farms from the lex and stex, but unluckily i forgot to put them in (ploppable's)

Schulmanator: OOOOHHH!! a reply from Schulmanator. This is a good sign 3.gif.  And as i always forget, this region is actually Blade2k5 Tropicana Region, just modified at some points.

TimeMaster: Thanks.  I know this is a great start.

xV.I.N.C.E.N.T.x: Thanks, hope u come back to see the next update.

Update will be in the next couple hours or so. Stay tuned.19.gif

Jacqulina: I started this city a little while back and took pictures. then stopped for a while. now is when i found the farms tho.

Update #2

The people of this new region, where met with many different species of animals and wild life.

wildanimals.jpg

After the early expansion of the farms in update 1, many more people from Aslan decided that they themselves were tired of King Charles' rule.  So they set out for this new land.  When they arrived, mass boost to demand hit Green Lake.

earlyexpansion.jpg

In the picture shown above, all house's had a new technology which no sim had had before.....Running Water and Electricity.  These let the people of Green Lake thrive and multiply to a few thousand.  At this point in time the largest employer (with jobs mulitiplier mod)was......the Llama Ag.

BiggestEmployer.jpg

Although it may have been a small farm, the McTorrians voted that llamas, are to be paid each week (with food and water). Thus making them workers.

Here's a teaser of the next update hope u enjoyed.

movingnorth.jpg

Just to add, as i always forget:

sorry about the grid in some pictures, i forget sometimes(alot actually)

i am using a slightly modified version of Blade2k5's Tropicana Map link

And custom content will be coming in the future....the soon to be future

Thanks to all who read.

You have to admit that text is severely annoying. It would be best to re-size it to a normal size. It kind-of chases the reader away. But I like this cities!

Nice start. I like the dirt roads, but as has been said, the SAM would look better. Unfortunately it's not compatible with any other street mods. If you need to know how to use it, there's a tutorial in my CJ, and I've been lazy in trying to get it in the omnibus. I was going to say something about the grid, but you already knew about it...

Keep it up!

I like the kinda rustic feel of this. But I HIGHLY advise using SAM it looks better. Also turn off the grid by hitting G. Other than that, its alright.

nihonkaranws: Yea sorry about that. fixed it tho. Thanks

Jill Jacobs: The thing is that i might use it in other cities (in the region, but not in this city as i don't want to go deleting all the dirt roads. People are so lazy these days 3.gif. Thanks

roboo1: Thanks, i always seem to forget about the grid, they shouldn't of invented it 37.gif.

jacqulina: Thanks, my friend 3.gif.

pagenotfound: Thanks for the comment, and see above for my SAM reply.

Thanks to all who comment, update will be in the next hour or so as always.

Update #3

The teaser in the last update showed the McTorrians moving north along the eastern coast.

movingnorth.jpg

Due to the invention of cars and the new expansion, dirt roads were being overly used by people.  With the technology of power, the McTorrians decided to have, a traffic light and paved streets.

firstsignal.jpg

By now, these new inventions called "cars" were starting to sputter and stop all over the place.  A scientist by the name of G.A. Soline discovered that cars, need fuel. (G.A. Soline later died in a fuel explosion, in which he discovered the main components of the fuel) Because of this, the fuel was called gasoline. (get it now 4.gif)

firstgas.jpg

In the picture shown above, the Tex Aco family opened there station in loving memory of G.A. Soline. This gas station was the only one on the whole island. Because of this and lackage of gas, it was priced at $5.53 a gallon.

Now, a new generation had come to the island of Green Lake.  The grandparents of these now children, where the rebels from Aslan.  (just putting the picture of how long this has been going on).  This new generation was sick, and tired of vegetables, fruits, and other kinds of produce that farms produced. So they decided on a New food called.... The Burger.

The Burger was made fast, so this type of eating was called fast food.  The first burger joint in Green Lake was....In-N-Out!!!

in-n-out.jpg

Here's a teaser of the next update:

Your storytelling is quite humorous, which is what makes this good. Otherwise it looks pretty bland (no offense) and weird with all those foundations under the lots. It's obviously Maxis's fault but it would be nice to see something done about it if you can bother. And if you think $ 5.53 per gallon is expensive, you've clearly never been to Europe. The average price here [in Finland] is getting close to € 1.60 per liter (about $ 8.50 per gallon)...

Update #4

Now, the McTorrian's main diet consisted of a double double a week (with tomato, lettuce and all the stuffings) and vegtables/fruit each other night.  One prosperous sim decided to open up his own fishery.

fishing.jpg

Now this fishery was located on the northern part of the island.

farthernorth.jpg

Now, with fish in their diets, the McTorrians thrived.  New ways of cooking took place in almost all households.  One new way was to fry your food.  A good way of frying fish, was to make fish sticks.

Well, one good'll night, while ms. John (married name, yet she was divorced with 9 children) was experimenting with this new frying technique, and she walked away from the pan to go change the youngest child. When she came back, she was face to face with....FIRE!!!!!!!

FIRE.jpg

Now it was not only her house, but all the neighbors houses too that were engulfed in flames.  Citizens from around the town could only watch as the destruction continued.

Fire2.jpg

when all of a sudden....BOOM a loud bang thoundered around the island as all standing houses fell to the ground.

Explosion.jpg

Now, all the McTorrians could do was sit and wait for the fire to die down, as they had nothing to help dampen the flames (remind u this is a community surrounded by water 17.gif

In the early morning, this is all that was left from the destruction.

aftermathdestruction.jpg

Tune in Next update to find out what the McTorrians do to resolve the most tragic accident (other than that guy who slipped on llama dung) in their history.

Hope you enjoyed this update.

And as always...NO LURKING!!3.gif

Update #5 (with more pictures)

Now, if you go back to last update, you can see the devestation created by fish sticks.  In the week following the accident, rescuers saved all the lives except ms. mary john.  When all of the people have been saved from the charred wood, the people of Green Lake decided to build memorial. Here's a series of what happened.

Charred wood

aftermathdestruction.jpg

Clearing of wood

clearedspace.jpg

(the land was also leveled for building)

Green Lake's first church.

memorialChurch.jpg

The church was later named St. Mary's

The grand opening of the church as many gathered to mourn one of the cities nicest mothers.

memorial.jpg

After the fire.  The Cities newly formed council decided to build a fire station.  The need was small, so the station was small.

Firehouse.jpg

Now, even though the first "unnatural" death had accured, the McTorrians set out to maximize their farming land.

roadoverview.jpg

As you can see.  All streets are now paved.

The cities farm population has now grown, and a farmers market was placed in the center of town, next to the fire house.

farmersmarket.jpg

Heres an teaser of the next update.  Hope you enjoyed.

Please leave comments, thanks.
