oooo! This should be cute! Gotta love those sunny beachside resorts!! Yep yep! I'm waiting to see your beautiful towns take shape!! Your two peninsula things remind me of something I saw in Florida. Anyway, have fun!! And let those camels roll!

Twin Islands is in a rather remote part of the state, and so there is not dsl or cable broadband out here... however sattelite internet has really taken off, and several local companies have taken not of this - here is some of the infrastructure:
    satellite.jpg

High tech industry has really taken off, partly thanks to the new interstate rail line
    high%20tech.jpg

The new freeway hasn't yet officialy opened, however when it does I suspect those R$$$ residents to the right are going to expect a tax cut, or at least a sound barrier...
    night%20light.jpg

Peaceful living away from the noise and bustle of Oasis Heights and City West hasn't yet translated to high real estate prices for properties that would fetch a small fortune elsewhere...
    river%20frontage.jpg

But the region is catching up to the outside world very rapidly
    wealthy%20folks.jpg

The old Interstate reverts to a split lane avenue for its duration through Twin Islands
    avenue%20merge.jpg

Southbound traffic on the new freeway will almost certianly have a lower speed limit than the northbound lane (note also that the town is fast becoming a major exporter of oranges)

If only I had more time, I would be experimenting with things like neighbourhood cul-de-sacs etc... that's something for the holidays I guess...

Here's a snapshot of the eastern part of the region, I know it looks a bit weird at present, I got a bit bored of desert cities so i transplanted some of my better cities into a new region. The region population all up is about 12 million (8.5 million R)

accoarding to region census there are 8 million R. I'm going to have to merge the imported cities with the region a bit better, when i have the chance, but it worked out pretty well, i didn't have to start from scratch. I've got to get rid of a few of the more unrealistic towers from some of the other cities too... it was sort of a 1/2 serious, 1/2 playing around with stex items region back then...

Cool start! I suggest maybe some of jeronij's walls for your highway in the shot where you elevated it (with the land). It would look more developed. Also, what about changing your pictures to JPEG so they can load faster? Right now they're PNG files, and that takes some time to load. If you need help converting them, just PM me 4.gif.

I'll be watching this cj... 19.gif

Wow someone is using the map of the city I live in! It looks nothing like Palm Coast, Fl (especially after that last update) but it is looking good!

Oasis Heights - the big city

This is Twin Islands' western neighbour. Total population about 2 million.

The commercial sector is quickly descending on the surrounding hills

The country club has encouraged a lot of high density residential development

As for Twin Islands, it's virtual ocean-frontage has finally been discovered. High rise developments are abundant near the coast, and the population has swelled to 60,000. The mainland has retained its character, but for how long? More on this later

    Twin Islands Takes Off!

Twin Island's waterfront position has finally been discovered by developers. The eastern part of the city now looks like a true metropolis, but the west still retains its humble character.
