@MrB: Still awaiting your pm with advice @Raindog: I love the railroad viaduct with the bridge in your fifth picture as well as the hillside farms in your picture 1. I would try adding some filler between the farms and housing in picture 5, just trees or something simple. Same with your single tile houses in picture 7; I also enjoy these houses but fill the center with parks, trees, alleys, or something else for flavor. Oh and very nice stream that runs along the rail line. Very picturesque.

I've decided to try this out in the hopes of actually "finishing" a region, or at least developing the majority of it. I'm hoping my competitive nature will enable me to fulfill this. Anyways, on with the show I suppose. As you can see development has been focused mainly on the interior of the region due to a refusal of shipping rights by the governing body of the region (a.k.a. the judges). The most developed portions currently are Lyons and Lille, with the latter attempting to become the seat of the region. Saint Dominics Church was founded by a group of Dominican nuns who also founded the school across the street. It is not uncommon for residents to wake up to valley fog. Running through the village is route 37 which connects Lyons to Lille. One of the first areas to develop was that around Lake Herman due to its abundance of fish and beautiful lakeside views. Unfortunately the fog tends to hang around longer in this area and the smell of cow patties from the nearby farms wafts through the summer air. The famed Chartres Vineyards sit right on the bend of the river providing much needed moisture through the head winds from the valley. However many believe that the exhaust fumes from Route 37 are the secret to their fine wines. Moulins was established as a supporting area for Lille due to the rich coal found in the surrounding area. Big Johns Inc. was contracted by the village of Lille to extract the coal and ship it down by train. The residents have benefited from the mine, namely due to the fact that it is the sole employer of all people in Moulins. The mines remote access make travel limited to dirt road and the coal tracks. The final stop for coal from Big Johns Mine, the Lille Coal Plant is located just north of the freight yard. While Lille remains smaller than Lyons the governing council of the village are preparing to takeover the industrial sector of the GRV while Lyons focuses more on agriculture.

Just as a note, personally I don't like Anaheim all that much. Very gritty and congested, and Disneyland is far over rated. And also I'm not just talking about the areas around Disneyland. For a small town Benicia, California is very nice. It's a one-street town, with many unique and appealing shops lying along First street. During the summer they hold a weekly farmers market where it seems everyone knows everyone else, and they're all very friendly to new comers. Very supportive of small buisnesses and groups. Excellent education. Great little commuter town. Right on the water so you can do watersports, plus it doesn't get very hot at all. And the west side of the strait it's on is undeveloped, leaves a nice view. Has it's own industrial park as well. Crime is also very low. Median income is quite high if I recall correctly, it's known for being a rich town. The only drawback is housing is also high. Not famous for much, named after the wife of General Mariano Vallejo (and Vallejo is the main city right next door to it), and was the state capital for a time.

Funny, I'm actually planning a CJ which is similar to the communist uprising in China. The buildings that you use might have a bleak feel to them, and large shrines/posters idolizing the leader. I believe there were some very bleak communisty buildings on the stex under "command and conquer". You could also try searching nuder "soviet" or "communist". If you build numerous of the same large run down tenements next to each other, it looks quite bleak as well. There was a CJ that was rather communist looking.

Ohh, looks interesting. The only think I can suggest is to add craters. -

I got bored and looked up messages that were two weeks old and had no replies, or if they had no replies and were irrelevant. If you'd like the links I saved them all and can post them.

Your city is rather beautiful. As a note though, could you please upload your pics as jpg's rather than png's, because png's take forever to view, even with DSL.

I wouldn't want to be eatting those crops, all that oil and gunk in the air, blech! That farm in the way back that strectches the entire city length, it took me a little bit to figure out that it's a farm and not forests. So yah, definately a quaint little city. Your commercial district looks awesome, I like the small town commercial centers. Keep up the great work! Wee! First Post!

Reminds me of a quaint little harbor town, at the moment at least. Lookin' forward to your next update.

hmm . . . those are some mighty flat islands, maybe add some hills, give a bit of variety and dimension. Good start though, look forward to your next update.

Weeee!!! Your cities definately have a lotta matzi . . . or however you spell, either way, they got character, I like that. I'm curious about that bridge, does it come with the game? Maybe I'm just slow, I've never actually tryed building those bridges before. Umm . . . ohh, and I like your use of the embankments or waterfronts, or whatever you want to call them, how it gives you levels in your city, that's pretty wicked. I've tried it before, took me a while to do and it didn't look that good on mine, but yours look good. And at the waterfront picture with the avenue, I dunno if you can do this, but I think it would look wicked cool if you could that avenue to lead into a tunnel. It's be pointless though, probably have no where to lead to. Nice locale for the telecommunications tower . . . like a lovers lane, maybe add some dirt parking lots up there, make it feel a bit more real. Well, I think this is a long enough comment. I can't wait for more!
