ok, so I bought a new ATI HD4850 graphics card, downloaded the latest drivers, since then my SimCity 4 deluxe has some strange graphic issues, you can check them out in the screens I took.

I get the strange graphics with some from factories, with coastal areas with waves and with stuff that appears and disappears like traffic, ships etc. also the transistion from coast to land seems very odd, very sudden.

Anyone got a clue how to fix this?

Hey HyperBart,

This seems to be a known problem with the ATi 4850 cards (well, their drivers anyway) with SimCity 4. There have been countless other people suffering from this problem, and they've all been packing a 4850. Many things have been tried, such as software rendering, differing graphics options, command line switches... none seem to work. All I could suggest is that you try out any beta drivers for your 4850 that are available.

... and try a search through this section with a key of "ATI".

in other words: I'm screwed. googled a bit more around the internet, found some tips that I tried but they don't solve the issue. I'm already thinking about selling my HD4850 and buying a card from Nvidia. *sign*

    thanks for the comments anyway.

I'm using an ATI Radeon HD 4850, and my my game crashes at closest zoom, and the settings are fixed, but I am having no other problems yet.

I have an HD4670 and have the exact same problem with my card. Switch to software rendering and that will fix it for now.

Mhh, this is quite old but I have a question concerning this...

I have an iMac with a ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO graphic card with 256 MB. I installed Windows XP with Boot Camp to play SC4.

Now, I've read that it isn't possible to solve this problem? So, could I put in a better graphic card or isn't that possible?

He probably installed the 8.1 Catalyst drivers from the ATi site.
