Hi, i just started playing simcity 4 deluxe edition but as soon as my city starts growing i get these problems with commuting time and residential areas get deserted. Is there a good tool or mod that i can use to get rid of this horrible problem. Please help me because i'm a great fan of simcity! Ruud Belgium

Upgrade the roads, build some highways, create or expand a mass transit system, create some jobs closer to the deserted residential areas. If you don't already have it try RHW (Rural Highway) or NAM (Network Addon Mod). Maybe the HSRP (High Speed Rail Project).

Get the NAM and use one of the commute mods for better capacity/pathfinding/etc. It works wonders.

Is it an issue where the residential buildings grow, then get a *no road connection* sign over the structure & it dilapitates after so long?

One way I discovered how to avoid ths problem is playing your game at Turtle speed when the *no road connection* sign appears over a building. Then once it disappears, return back to Rhino or Cheetah speed.

The main problem is at Rhino or Cheetah speed, the Sims don't have time to find the right job, so they just leave.

Mods like the nam(network addon mod)can help , also try putting major roads and avenues(just like real cities!)in a grid like pattern and putting the jobs (industrial and commercial)near the intersections , and try putting bus stops every 7-8 tiles.

ruuder: This "commute mod" is actually the traffic simulator included with the NAM. During installation, just choose which traffic simulator you want.

    I hope this helps!
