Hi, Mattoman.

I am not able to find a map on the STEX called "Greater Sydney".  Also, I don't see a link to the map in your post.  Would you mind supplying the link so I can check the map for you?

Thanks.

Regards,

Gary (Vandy)

If you have photoshop go in and edit the jpeg file that you downloaded. Copy the colors of the water and the land with the eye dropper tool and then go in the with paint brush and go along the outline of the land with the land color. If it doesnt look fuzzy around the edges then you've fixed it for the most part. Save it and then re render the map. When you enlarge the picture the edges become fuzzy and thats where your getting those pools of water from. From the looks of it seems like the entire jpeg is full of mix matched pixels. Otherwise you can just go in region by region and flatten out the landscape.

    Hi, Mattoman.

Ah, I see the problem you're having now.  I have to agree with Lord Volker concerning the grayscale .JPG file.  That file is going to be extremely hard to work with given its miss-matched pixels in and around the water lines not to mention in and around the land elevations.

You can certainly use the method put forward by Lord Volker but be prepared for a long and tedious task.  You'll need quite a bit of patience.

    Good luck.

    Regards,

    Gary

Just call me Volker. And ya, going in and fixing the pixels around the water edges should help. Im a cusom map person all the way. I've made numerous maps ranging from the continent of Anea from Ace Combat 6 including the city Gracemeria but only the entire continent is to large so i had to scale it down alot in order to make it look good. I'm also working on an island region which i'll probably do a city journal for if i ever get around to doing it. I took the island of Thira in the greek sea north of Crete and work on the picture until i got it the way i wanted it. Everything is scaled down and i also had to move a few of the islands to have the individual cities right where i wanted them.
