Problem re low density medium wealth res

In my earlier days of playing SC4 I would zone low density residential, 1x1 lot size.  Low wealth sims build first, then the medium wealth sims build houses on the same size lots.  This gives you fairly high density for a low density neighborhood.  And it's realistic in your cities and older suburbs - large houses on small city lots.

Now, as soon as the medium wealth sims move in, they build 1x2 houses (or larger) on the 1x1 lots.  I cannot grow med wealth low density on 1x1 lots.  The only thing I can think of is that BATs I've added over the years have somehow preempted the 1x1 houses originally in SC4.  Any advice?

In my cities i have plenty of $$ houses on 1x1 lots, and its unlikely your plugins would remove them. I'd say that your SC4 installation is somehow corrupted, but if you can get $$ residential to grow on 1x2 or 1x3 lots, then why worry?

I have a similiar problem but I cant get 1x1 low res lots to grow at all in the beginning of the game. I just reinstalled the game, no luck.

I use an empty tile next to the one I am growing, once I get the building I want I make it historical, then I can start on the lot next to it. That keeps the game from joining two tiles for one building.
