hi sorry to put another forum topic in here, but i have two annoying problems

1- after i lock or unlock cities in SC4terraformer, it just quits and I get this message: DirectX 9.0c is installed but your graphic card can't handle the program

2- When i open Lot Editor, it just shows the background colors- no buildings to select or anything, just a window with black, grey, blue- I think those are the LE colors...

Please help me, thanks in advance

If you are using the official version of wine, then you need to install Python's windows version under wine to get programs written in this language to run.

Hey thanks for the reply Nonny Moose! However, that doesn't seem to be the problem, other python based programs seem to run (Cleantol for example) off the python24.ddl just fine. This seems to be DirectX related, but I have the ddls also. All I really want is faster/better region import :/

Did you use winetricks to install the DDX libraries? You probably need DirectX 9.0c. You could download the installer if necessary from the MS site. Several versions of DirectX can run together. If you run from a console you can probably get diagnostics on what causes the crash.

BTW, I couldn't get Cleanitol to run, but I am using a wine beta.

Yeah I used winetricks, I have the DX9 DLLs installed but still a no go :/

As a side note, I'm actually using the BlackDiamond CXZ engine rather than pure wine (which I tried but it ran like crap while CXZ is actually quite faster than the official Mac version!)

good going. I don't know why you should have problems with wine from the home site. What Mac operating system are you running?

10.6.7 on a Gigabyte-P55-UD4P Core i5 2.67Ghz, gtx260 and 12Gb of RAM... (Say what you want about hackintoshes, that thing is great, 100+ days uptimes until the inevitable power failure or me deciding to finally push the latest system updates, I even have proper thermal control/monitoring ;)

I am a Linux user, so I don't give a hoot what hardware you run. Mine is a Gigabyte GA-MA78LM-S2H with Athlon X2, ATI 3000, 4GB RAM and about 2TB of hard disk of which only 500GB is internal.

You have enough iron to dual boot any other O/S, so why not try Linux? I think you might like it. There are several free distributions around, but I finally arrived at UBUNTU as being the one best for me. Everyone to his own taste.

Yeah I use Linux extensively also. I've been a Mac user for a long long time (little over 20 years, even sold them at some point!) and a BSD/Linux user for 10 or so, but up until recently OSX was still my favourite, yet not exclusive, Desktop OS. Ubuntu 10.04/10.10 and Mac OS X 10.6.6 (AppStore, blech) are starting to tip the balance though. I have to say one thing, the advances with Wine (crossover-cxz/cider/wineskin) for game porting under Mac OS X in the last two years are simply astounding (see portingteam.com). With Steam now also using it the game selection on OS X has skyrocketed. I'm hopeful such efforts will soon come to Linux also, PlayOnLinux is a good start however some of the forked engines seem to perform better for games than straight Wine. Future will tell, but I'm hopeful :)

The last two wine betas have been much better. I am now using wine 1.3.20. However there is still a problem with gmax and OLE. Earlier on I did a regression test on the problem with gmax and reported it. gmax does work on wine 1.2.1, but after that, it is broken.

Thanks, I might just do that. I haven't looked at the app data base in a while.
