Welcome to Coastline, Part One of a series called Pacific Heights.
Coastline is a bedroom community of my giant Iron Point (to be featured soon) and supplies mant commuters there and back.  Although a great share of the citizens commute to another city, Coastline has its own downtown districts covered with custom lots (mostly by simgoober) and is a burgeoning city full of hope, life and activity.

Here we have uptown Coastline with the Verona Viaduct and City Hall visible.  Coastline started around the Coast Line Railroad, which owns the Verona Viaduct.

    1_2_WCoastline-Surburbia.JPG
Western Coastline.  Note the terminus of San Andreas Road at a roundabout in Old Downtown.  The new developments are visible in the lower righthand side of the picture, with the newly built Union Medical Center.

Eastern Coastline.  See the terminus of Laurel Springs Road, one of two major arteries in this small town.  Russell High School is seen in the center right.  The city is quite proud of it, as it was the first new civic building built in over 20 years.

Finally, surburban Coastline.  Parkside Elementary is seen here, as well as the Cabot Street overpass, the interchange of Laurel Springs and San Andreas, and the port to another city along San Andreas Road.

cool start. cant wait to see the growth of this.

EDIT: one thing i would say is to go to the graphics in the options panel of the upper right corner of your region view, and set the graphics for building props to high. i'm not sure what it is called, but it will have every house have a yard of some sort other than the grass plot. you know, like pools and trees and stuff. just a suggestion.

Seriously, you need to work on it a lot more before posting a CJ. Great start though. But what's with that horrible water color? The land a terrain textures should be changed, and I highly recommend placing some seawalls along that coast.

    Okay.

    1) Could you recommend me a water texture?

    2) I like my Olympic Terrain Mod.

    3) Where would I get seawalls?

    Thanks for the input.

dont worry about nihonkaranws. i think they like to point out everything that they seem is wrong for everyone. i would suggest the realistic water in the mods and downloads section of simtropolis. it is one of the 50 most downloaded things found on the right-hand side of that section. also, the terrain mod is nice. and for the seawalls, just go to the STEX at the top of each page, and type seawalls in the search engine. hope this helps!

looks like very rough terrain there! interesting building style, what is the circle tower you have featured in your commercial?

perhaps a suggestion would be to use the no dirt mod for your rail for the moment. (i tried to have a quick look for it on stex but i couldn't find it. can someone help out)

for water and seawalls, there are plenty on the stex, simply search it and be amazed. my personal is the blue-greenish & peg's brigitane (mispelled).

    good luck!

Cheers to Godzillaman for the seawalls...

Cheers to newsimaddict for the nodirt mod Idea (the tower is Coit Tower, available in Landmarks menu.  The growabble is a glitch and I do not know how to stop it besides bulldozing every one.)!

Once again, thanks to jjune for more great ideas!

    Thanks!

Actually I thought that the CAM created the growable coit towers. I'm not really sure on this, and I haven't heard of a way to get it out without removing the CAM. Maybe ask the CAM developers here, since most of the activity on projects like those happens there.

Welcome to Coastline, Part One in a series called Pacific Heights.

In this update, Coastline becomes more self-reliant and a brilliant new opportunity comes to town...

    2_1_ParkCenter.JPG

Here is the new Coastline City Park.  Under the new cash grant to Coastline Parks&Rec, they decided to build a huge park complex to increase desirability in residential areas.

    2_2_Cruiseship.JPG

Coastline has been chosen for a Cruise Ship Port! (This wasn't the opportunity I was talking about...)  This is sure to bring new business to this fledgeling community!

    2_3_NEWFARMS.JPG

New zoning opportunities voted on by the Coastline Alpha Committee gives plenty of room in the north for farms to stretch out their wings.  The city is expanding form the north and south now.  The ends will meet soon and Coastline will run out of room on its tiny coastal tile.

    2_4_GasolHQ.JPG

The Gasol Corporation has decided (for unknown reasons) to build its corporate headquarters in our small town!  We will welcome the new tax-payers with great honor and respect!  More tax revenue!

    2_5_Brownout.JPG

A brownout strikes our city.  We are running out of power!  What are we to do???

    2_6_Ligpp.JPG

(In answer to previous question) Duhhhh. Build a new power plant.  The Gasol Corporation has generously gifted us with a Lignite Power Plant in return for a small seat in city government.  We now have a shiny new power plant far out in the sea where it can't possibly hurt us with pollution or explosions!

    TEASER for Update 3...

It turns out to be not so great...

Good updates and a nice start 44.gif

However, please resize your images to 800 x 600.

If you like the quality of your images, and don't want to resize, there's a way around it (click here).
