In need of assistance.

Hi,

It seems that every time I try to change the size of city tiles in MS Paint, it erases the tile completely. What I mean by that  is, an empty space appears where the new tile should be. I should mention that I am running the game on Windows Vista. I used to have Windows XP but this problem never occured. Has anyone else experienced this while running Vista?

All I want is to be able to change the size of city tiles so that it is easier to terraform a region. Any solutions or suggestions to this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post, but you've actually been able to change city sizes without messing up existing terrain by altering the config file of a region with MS Paint? I didn't think that was possible. I've never been able to do that with Vista or XP. It is possible to enlarge regions without wiping out existing terrain by adding pixels to the right and bottom of the config (the new cities will be bare). Let us know...

Ahhhhhh... Call me a dunce...46.gif  Do you mean after changing the sizes, the whole tile is gone (background shows in the space)? Maybe a color/settings issue? I don't have access to a Vista machine currently to check it out. Maybe someone else knows...

Hello tsb29,

I'm with CaptCity - in not quite understanding your exact problem:

Case 1 - No city tiles in modded location - would indicate a color issue.

Case 2 - Previously-existing City Tiles are replaced by feature-less city tiles:

Be aware - changing your city size will cause the game to try bouncing pre-existing (and thus now wrong sized) saved-city-files (for affected areas) into your "...\Regions\downloads" folder. (Not having Vista - and thus not able to try it with Vista - I'm not sure if the game will properly find your "...\Regions\downloads" folder.)

I have had a lot of experience with the latter case - playing around with different config.bmp coloring schemes back when the Regional Config.bmp first came out - and when you change something so that the saved-city-files don't match the holes they were previously in - they get moved out of that region - (if the game can find it) to the {my-documents}\SimCity4\Regions\Downloads folder.

No detail is too small to be micromanaged.
