This is my problem, the internet in the house is connected in my room, and I need to get the internet to my playstation downstairs. I have a modem and a router. My playstation connects wirelessly (I know because Ive done it before) but when I hook up my router next to my computer, I have it hooked up just as in the instructions but the interent just wont connect to the modem and siginal downstairs. So if you understand my problem can you help? -thanks

What type of router are you using? can the PS not conect, or does the signal die out, if the second one is the case, then you may need a router with a range booster (the new Linksys ones have them).

There is a lot more that I need to know to be able to help you, does your computer connect to the internet using a telephone line or an Ethernet cable (an Ethernet cabe usually has writing on it that includes the phrase "Cat 5e" or "Cat 6") and has a wider, eight pin connector. If this is the case, you plug that into the internet port on your computer, and plug the cable that is (usually) included with it from your computer to one of the ports on the router that are labled "E1" to "E4". Once you do that, then go into your web browser and put "192.168.1.1" into the address bar, that is the home page for your router. The manual should say what to do from there.

Yeah, if you change it for security reasons.

First of all, if you have a modem, set it up on Bridge Mode (that means your modem will send your internet connection without doing the IP stuff) Now unplug your modem from your computer and using an Ethernet cable, connect it to a LAN port on the back of your router. Now connect the other end of the ethernet to your computer NIC (not the 56k modem). If you have a Belkin router, open up a browser session and type in this address     http://192.168.2.1 '>http://192.168.2.1  If it doesn't work consult your router manual or call Belkin. There should be a Setup somewhere. Follow the intructions. When you are finished, disconnect your router from the computer and powercycle your modem (do not reset it, you will lose the info you just entered). And reconnect everything and should look similar to this.

That is a DSL setup. If you have cable, simply replace the Internet cord with a coaxial cable and forget about the PPPoE thing. In the  http://192.168.2.1 site look for a Sign In, Log In or Connect button and if everything is setup correctly you will be online on your PC and Playstation.

If that doesn't work, please give more info like ISP (your internet service provider) specific router and modem info and connection type (dsl, cable satellite etc)

I've always found connection pretty easy.

Your device just has to search for the wireless router and connect, you will usually be asked for the security key or access code. Which is usually noted on the side/back or under the wireless router.
