The last time I visited, I had (and still have) a p4 3ghz, 2gb ddr-400 ram, geforce 6800.  I was having to wait a long time with loading up large (over 100mb) regions, slowness running at high resolutions, slowdowns as my city got larger, etc.  I was told that video card performance doesn't matter much with this game, as everything is rendered in 2d.  So, I'm wondering, with todays' SATA-2 hard drives, quad core processors, etc - does this game now run like a dream?

Also, I've got almost 1,000 plugins.  I've got no idea what most of them do, as their filenames are shaky at best.  I also have quite a few that plain don't work.  Is there a way to preview what they do/look like prior to going into the game?

Is there a mod for those of us that drive on the "wrong" side of the road to have traffic driving on the left?

I'm after a very mountainous, challenging-for-building region.  Can anyone reccommend one?

Speaking of regions, I've completely forgotten how to use a custom one.  I remember it involves holding down some keys and selecting a joeg - can anyone be more specific?

Thanks in advance, and it's good to be back?

Well, not to say that my computer is better than yours, but I have a AMD Athlon 2.4 Dual core with 1 gig of RAM, and SC4D runs really well. I think you can download B.A.T and view them before you play the game. Now that there are literally thousands of BATS and lots available, i have to organize them really well. Anyway, I am not sure where you can download the B.A.T. Hopefully, someone responds to this and helps you out further.

Welcome back, bluejeans!

1 - My 4-year-old PC's not even as good as yours, yet SC4 still works fine for me. Of course, with large cities (Populations of 3-400 thousand...) things start to bug a bit, but nothing unmanagable. However, for it to truly run "like a dream"... well, the jury's still out on that one. I wonder if it's even possible with NASA's supercomputers lol.

2 - A thousand plugins? Holy crap! I see you like to mindlessly download all the stuff without even considering if you truly need it first?

Of course, this amount (insane!) of plugins will seriously degrade the game's performances as it uses phenomenal amounts of RAM... you'd better delete a few of them that you don't need, such as those that you say don't work, etc. Your game will work much better, I promise you. Unfortunately, no, there's currently to way to actually preview them and test their functionality without seeing them in the game.

3 - "Wrong side of the road"... that's just mean 9.gif I'm sure SC4 comes in two variants, for right-lane and left-lane...? In any case, you can use the NAM (Network Add-on Mod, the most prominent download by far on this site) to switch lane sides, along with totally customizing and revamping all of SC4's transportation networks.

4 - 'Fraid I can't recommend anything, but in case you forgot (not saying you did...), just use the Search function in the STEX while searching under the "maps" category. I suggest you think of a real-world place with lots of mountainous terrain, and see if they have that...?

5 - For the downloaded Regions, check out the Omnibus section, there's a full article that explains in very minute detail how to do it, and there are several ways now, including the famed SC4 Mapper (or something like that).

Once again, welcome back.

I’m a guy who just can’t guy right.

Ok, I got NAM, but everyone's still driving on the "wrong" side of the road. Is there anything I'm meant to set in-game to change this? I've got sc4 + rush hour expansion, from australia, so you'd think the side of the road would be set properly, but it doesn't seem so...

Also, does anyone remember a plugin that gives power stations and water pumps a radius of something like 500, effectively not needing to build any more than one?

When you install the Network Add-on Mod, there's some options you can select or de-select.   One of these options is for left-hand drive for your cities.  You may want to uninstall & re-install the NAM in order to make it lefty 4.gif
