Custom Farms, HELP!

Can anyone tell me how to disable maxis farms which would allow me to develop STEX farms? Please include iLive Reader screenshots on how to modify the simcity_1.dat file step by step, Thank you!

A word of advice though, you should never ever attempt to modify your simcity_1.dat file. Firstly you can't easily reverse the changes, especially if you make several, and secondly for any game updates or patches required, the updater will not recognise the simcity_1.dat as the correct file and will not complete the update. Always make a copy of the files that you want altered from the simcity_1.dat in a new dat and modify those, leaving the same iid will cause the new files to overide the old ones.
