Railway problem

Hi all,

I have a weird problem with my railways.

There are a couple of passenger stations and one freight station that are all connected by rail (the railway also has a connection to another city and to simnation). All railway stations have power. However, there are no trains running. This is very annoying and I have no clue how to fix this.

Only railroad-related plugins I use are a few nice railway stations and the trolca Trainset (the last mentioned plugin has worked before). Of course I also have the NAM, Version June 2007.

Anyone knows how to fix this? I don't want to rebuild a city from scratch, just because of this.

Thanks in advance.

Greetings,

Jan

Hello,

The reason you haven't got any trains running is because your sims aren't using the network that you have built.

Check the usage at the railway stations, I think you'll find very little of the capacity being used. Your network either does not go

where your sims are going (it does not suit their commute route) or it is to early in the game to have a rail network.

To fix this, check your sims commutes and build railways in the general direction that everyone goes to work.

For freight, make sure you place your freight station in a large area of industry or in an area easily accessible to industry

freight.

I hope I could be of some assistance

callbat is right. you can also check the gfx settings, set amount of sims to high or medium.

Ok, I have a better solution than repating the obvious "make sure the track is connected between the residents and their workplaces" mantra.

- Do you have the left-hand drive version of the game, i.e. if you look at the cars do they drive on the left side of the road?

- If so, when installing NAM make sure that you check the left-hand drive plugin check-box (at the bottom of the check-box list on the NAM installer)

- Now there should be traffic on the tracks presuming that the basic conditions for rail traffic are met.

At least this helped me. Even though I shouldn't have the left-hand drive version of the game, based on my location, I still happen to have it. Making the NAM install as left-hand drive does the trick with the rail-based transports. There was something mentioned on the NAM readme too. (But you don't read readmes until you really, really have to, right?)
