Custom Airports

Are custom airports built in SC4 functional or just purely eye candy?

I'd love to build some custom airports, but I'm won't do it if they're not functional.

Custom airports are purely eyecandy. I don't know why that would make a difference, though, as you could always just plop a SWAP pack terminal or airport shuttle lot to make it work.

You can easily make the airport functional by adding certain terminals or I believe a control tower and they'll have the effect of an airport on your city. You won't, however, see planes taxiing etc.

Alot of the stuff is just eye candy. The ones functional are airports themselves, and don't need any add-ons. You can place airports in the heart of your eye candy airport to make them look bigger and more realistic, but you cannot get it functional with just the puzzle pieces.

Most of it is eye candy, but the terminal buildings and the ATCT towers are functional.
