Eliot Spitzer Busted for Prostitution

Glad he's gone. It's still disappointing though. When he was elected, I did think he was the best person to govern a state like New York. Wow, wasn't that a spectacular implosion? I've heard the governor-in-waiting is more of a consensus builder. That's certainly needed right now.

I also want to add that I am getting rather tired of politicians caught in sex scandals dragging their spouses up on the podium with them as they make their speeches. For Spitzer's wife, for example, well the poor woman has been humiliated enough!

probably not that peaceful these days for top brass democrats in New York. Let's just hope the law has the same disability. But Ray?

Well, they identified the girl. Ms. Dupree even has a MySpace page. Ex drug addict, aspiring musician who just broke up with her boyfriend and is worried about paying rent. This is what you get for your $4k+?

I feel bad for Mrs Spitzer and his girls, but he got what he deserved. I hope they file criminal charges against him only because he was prosecuting people fpr the same crimes. The ironic thing is he signed a law that would prosecute the "johns" as well. Which he needs to be made the example of. I also feel bad for the girl Ms Dupree. She shouldn't have to be drug though slime and hounding by the press like she is going to be. I guess though after things settle down she'll get a book deal so maybe it won't be to bad for her in the end.

The money isn't for the girl, it's for her, um, "services". The important part in deciding the price is how good she is at that, not what kind of person she is in general. In fact, women who are prostitutes are generally people like that- not respectable, in trouble financially, and thus willing to do shady business to make some money.

If she wasn't an ex drug addict and all that, she probably wouldn't be a prostitute. 49.gif

I'm curious, Duke, you'd probably know this... Where is the Carlysle Landmark Apartments in Manhattan? They opened about a year ago. She had a ninth floor apartment in the building. She was worried about paying rent on the place since her boyfriend left a few months ago.

No matter who gets the money, her or the service, that's still a lot to pay for "low quality goods". Drugs = disease in some cases. And her picture? Well, put it this way...there are a lot of streetwalkers here in DC equal or better in "hot looks" that are much less.

I heard today that he may have used campaign funds to buy 'services'. This is a serious violation of Federal law, prison time comes into the picture.

It may also be true that Bill Clinton is sweating over this story, which is why (IMO) we haven't heard much from the Clintons on the whole matter. Spitzer wasn't the only high-profile customer, from what I've been hearing.

What makes you think I know where every single building in Manhattan is? 21.gif

Seriously, I may be familiar with the city, but why on Earth would I be able to pinpoint the location of some residential building that I don't know anyone who lives in? Okay, so yes it has become a paparazzi hotspot since Spitzer lives there, but that's tabloidy stuff which I generally don't pay attention to. I don't care where he lives. Well, so long as he's not my neighbor, anyway.3.gif

Now, I googled it, but I found nothing. If there is a "Carlysle Landmark Apartments" in Manhattan (or anywhere for that matter) the internet apparently does not acknowledge its existence.

Where'd you get that name from, anyway? Because now that you've brought the issue up you've made me curious.

For what it's worth, there used to be a construction company called "Landmark" that built apartments and condos.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

Sorry...didn't mean to be presumptuous, Duke. I know you live in NYC and have an extensive knowledge of the city, among other things, and figured you might know. It's a new building in the Flatiron District, BTW. About a year old.

I find it hilarious that even though he had, uh, "dated" her several times, ol' Eliot had to ask and be reminded of what she looked like when ordering.
