Trouble Reinstalling

I've just reinstalled my operating system and am having to reinstall SC4, but I'm having trouble.  I keep getting an error.  It says:  Hardware Driver Error, Could not initialize direct draw.

Then, when I click OK or whatever, it then says, "Could not initialize the hardware driver.  Using the software driver instead."  I click OK and it looks like it's going to start the game, but then crashes to the desktop.

What does this mean?  And more importantly, how do I correct this error in order to properly install the game.  I have never received this error and have no idea what to do.

If my computer specs are needed or anything like that, I will need help on how to find it out, so please be specific.

Try redownloading and reinstalling DirectX.

I have downloaded DirectX 10, but I am having the same problem.

Right-click on your Computer icon on your Desktop and go to Properties. One more chance is try to reinstall the game.

So, I right-click on My Computer and go to Properties.  I have two options:  General and Shortcut.  Under General, it shows

Type of file:  shortcut

Description:  My Computer

Location

Size

Size on Disk

Date created, modified, and accessed.

And Attributes.

Under Shortcut, it shows

My Computer

Target type:  My Computer

Target Location:  Desktop

and the rest you probably have seen before.

This is all I have with right-clicking on My Computer.  And forgive me, but this does not look like what I've seen people paste as their computer specs. Is this correct? Or is there another computer icon that I should have?

Remember, I just reinstalled my operating system and it doesn't have any drivers except for DirectX.

Please help me.
