It's not the first, though. 2 years ago they announced a microprocessor interface via the tongue. It allowed a 360° view with the eyes closed, even underwater. It turns out the tongue is the best route to the brain for visual information imported from external sources, as tapping into the optic nerve wasn't feasible. 

The military immediately recognized the use of this for covert ops, and I heard little else. Apu really can now have eyes in the back of his head!

Inside of my head my thoughts are always a mess and I don't know if I could even control a pointer on a screen like that
