New to the Simtropolis

Hello  to all,

I've just joined the forum, and have been trying to familiarse my self with the basics.  I ended up getting myself completly lost.  

Any suggestions as to where to begin would be greatly appreciated.

I only have Classic Sim City 4.  Does it work on that?

No, the NAM, nor any other mods located on the STEX will work with the Classic (aka - "Vanilla") version of SC4. I would HIGHLY recommend getting Rush Hour as it greatly expands the capabilities of this wonderful game over the Vanilla version.

Define "the basics". Are you looking for SC4 help? Forum advice? Chatroom advice? Pointers on downloading BATs and whatnot?

In any case, you're already ahead of the game since you're in the right forum. Those pinned threads up top have some good stuff in them. More in depth info may be found in the Omnibus.

Oh, and anticipating a possible question- no, you can't post in the Omnibus. It's read-only to normal members. Only the staff can edit it. It's an encyclopedia, not a discussion room, even though it is graphically identical to the forums. Any specifc questions you need to ask can go, well, here- or in their appropriate forum if they're less general (SC4 questions in Simcity 4 General Discussion, Custom content questions in the Custom content forums, unrelated questions in the Off Topic forums, etc.)

You've already shown that you're smart by posting here and trying to familiarize yourself first as opposed to just diving in. You should be fine.

According Psycho_Teddy - You must have a full version of SC4 (SC4 "Vanilla" + Sc4Rush Hour or SC4 DeLuxe) ...

Only SC4 "Vanilla" version is very poor and You can work with Simtropolis about 0,2% ...

Welcome to Simtropolis. Alot of the forums are faily self expalnatory. Afterall you managed to find this section and start a topic.

To learn somethings about Simtropolis check out [this section for a bit of help] 

Try just looking around at how to site is set up for awhile. Discover some stuff for yourself.

By the way, a chatroom is just a place where people exchange instant messages, like Simtropolis's Live chat.
