Hello all!  This idea has been lurking in the back of my mind for a while now (three days) and I decided to make this CJ.  So here we go:

Hudsonburg:  Part One

Hello my name is Jebidiah Hudson, and I used to live in good old Andrike Cross, where my family had lived for generations.  Then, the Andrike Nuclear containment facility blew, and wiped out the hundreds of thousands of residents there (*sniffle*).  Only me and twenty others survived the horrible tragedy, because we were in a small commuter jet that had just taken off from Andrike International Airport.  Here's a picture that I took of the scene:

AndrikeCross-Apr25701199502499.png

Oh, sorry!  That was a picture of my house, the Sundy Building!  Here's the right picture:

AndrikeCross-Apr22701199502403.png

And so anyway, the pilot had a massive heart attack flying us to our destination (North Dakota[ugh], and the plane crash landed in the mountains of southern Canada.  We all survived, except for the pilot of course, and we set off to try and survive from nothing.  After a day, we decided to start a new town, and I was elected the mayor of this new town, which I named Hudsonburg (yay!).

After a couple of weeks, me and the other people, most of which were farmers, had started a small farming village:

No one knew of the disaster yet to come in this quaint little hamlet...

    Hudsonburg:  part 2

Hello, this is Jebidiah Hudson of Hudsonburg here to bring you some news about our city.  The week started off well when Alex, my nephew, found a herd of cows in the mountains while exploring.

    Hudsonburg-Feb5011199545628.png

He also rescued two hikers who had fallen into a ravine and were dying.  They just happened to be American businessmen and they offered to open up a store in our town, plus a school for the six kids that we had:

    Hudsonburg-Nov18011199545796.png

Because of the new businesses, we had to build a new water tower.  As the men left, they sent me a picture of how our city looks from a mountaintop:

    Hudsonburg-Oct16011199545739.png

But not all went right, for a day later, Mount Vernain erupted:

    Hudsonburg-Nov19011199545840.png

The lava spread down the mountain, killing two people!  The fires spread quickly and started burning one of our farms and the utility buildings:

    Hudsonburg-Nov19011199545884.png

Finally, we put the fires out by forming a bucket brigade.  Five people died in the resulting fires and two more died in the lava, causing our population to fall from twenty to thirteen:

    Hudsonburg-Nov19011199546132.png

That's all for now, come again!40.gif

Its time to get the good old advice notebook out again:

    1. More custom content

    2. Turn of the zots

    3. Bigger pictures because I can't really see whats going on

I can't lie and say its a great start the story is there its just the pictures aren't that good, if you follow the advice and look at other peoples journals then this could be a great journal, bare in mind this is just my opinion 4.gif,

    Richard

The bad luck does not stop, does it? If your mayor needs a rabbit's tail, I'll give him one 9.gif

Nice start Dan, I have a few suggestions though. When you take pictures, you should try to have them at the maxium 800x600 pixels. That way, you get more detail in your photos. To get rid of those no power icons, press Ctrl and x to open up the cheat box and type in tastyzots then enter and they will disappear. Other then that, you've got an interesting city journal, hopefully you start incorperating more custom content and more development. I hope you can continue and improve on what you have, good luck!

A great start, but just download some more custom content, and for the stuff you do download, make sure to download all of the texxtures and dependencies. (The left houses don't have any stuff around them.  Driveways, fences, trees etc.)

    Hudsonburg:  part 3

Hello once more!  Where was I...  Ah yes, the fires.

We rebuilt the farms that had been destroyed in almost no time.  We had to hire some out of towners to help, or it would've taken a lot longer.  The out of towners seemed interested by the town, and sure enough most of them moved in with their families within a week!  One of them was very religious, and he asked me if he could hire some people to build a church:

    Hudsonburg-Sep3021200267956.png

That was the church with some of the new houses.  One of people who moved in opened up a snack shack:

    Hudsonburg-Mar31031200268389.png

Every morning the commute looked like this:

    Hudsonburg-Jun6031200268741.png

Then (you guessed it) bad luck struck again in the shape of a tornado:

    Hudsonburg-Apr4031200268432.png

Thankfully, no one died.  Then we had to rebuild the farms and houses.  Again...:

    Hudsonburg-May1031200268641.png

Finally, half a year after the town was started, it looked like this:

    Hudsonburg-Jun3031200268695.png

Also, the sea level had risen so we had to build some new sea walls to stop the water.

    See you again!

jrone3:  Bethany is very nice too!

    --------------------------------------------

A lot has happened since our last update of Hudsonburg.  Jebidiah Hudson has died of a heart attack.  In result, the community pitched in and built a memorial clinic in memory of him.  His advisor, Dr. Smith, has taken over for now.  Anyway, the town's population is growing fast and so we let some manufacturing plants into the city limits:

    Hudsonburg-Apr22041201375808.png

Because of the new industry, more people moved in, and new houses were built on the coast of the lake.  The small little snack bar has grown to be a full fledged cafe, serving coffees and baked goods:

    Hudsonburg-Apr16041201375784.png

Also, a farmer claimed to see a UFO in the night sky about a week ago and UFO hunters have been all over the town looking for any trace of them.  Nothing has been found.

But yesterday, everyone in the 1500 population town saw something:

    Hudsonburg-Mar15061201376334.png

It started to abduct the cows!:

    Hudsonburg-Mar15061201376357.png

All one hundred cows were taken.  The government paid a visit yesterday and confirmed that the UFO was mearly a new prototype for the air force.  Yeah right.  The town now looks like this:

    Hudsonburg-Apr4061201376462.png

A monumental gazebo has been built for the cows:

    Hudsonburg-Mar19061201376414.png

    That's all for now!

UFO + cows = funny! Definitely more custom content and better resolution pics, there are great free image programs like picasa and GIMP to jazz up the photos. But the story has promise..*hums Cows With Guns*

Let no one yield, we're on the field where deeds eclipse the sun; where the brave are told on a thread of gold, the tapestry is spun. As they speak of dreams, their armor gleams, this calm before the storm... Where all can see their destiny, the bishop takes the pawn.
