The Network Addon

Can anybody help....what is the Network Addon? I haven't downloaded it, but i read the readme and it kinda makes sense to me, but I was hoping I could get some better explaining. Also....if I download it, how much will it slow my game down?

You will barely notice any change in speed. The only things loaded are the things you are using, so there should be zero problem. The only thing that gets a little hairy is the menus, but it is not really a big deal.

What the NAM does is add on to your transportation network options (hence its name) by giving additional choices of road, highway, and railroad configurations. For example, with the NAM you can create an avenue that splits into two one-way roads, create multiple types of freeway interchanges, roundabouts for all street sizes, etc.

The NAM also adds additional transit options to the game, such as Ground Lite Rail (GLR) and Rural Highways (RHW). Not only that, it also fixes many problems with the in-game transportation system by adding options that deal with commute time, the speed of the different roads, and how far Sims are willing to travel from their homes. This helps in reducing abandonment due to commute times.

The NAM is excellent. I just started using it yesterday. Send a message to a guy named filasimo. He is on the NAM team and can walk you through setting it all up.

NAM will only lag you if you have a whole bunch of left turn lanes in your city. Sometimes, NAM can fix the commute time problem, but not the grafh chart commute time. If you still see the commute time very high in th grafh even when you installed NAM. Ignore it unless the buildings still continue to abandon frequently.

I dont know why but my simcity4 freezes when ever i use that network addon and try to build special roads with it.

I hope you read the documentation in your NAM folder in plugins.  It tells about any pitfalls.  Otherwise, there is not enough information in your post.  Please give us you machine configuration, including what operating system you are running and the version of the game executable.
